Summary 

The Electrical Field Service Technician will apply the theory and principles of electrical engineering to modify, develop, test, or calibrate machinery and equipment.

What you'll do

• Repair and maintain electrical equipment by servicing disassembling and assemble, calibrate and test machinery, machine components and equipment that operate primarily on the basis of electrical principles.
• Knowledge/experience working with and troubleshooting PLC with knowledge or Siemens or Alen Bradley PLC 5-5000 and HMI Rockwell Factory Talk software. 
• Ability to read, interpret work from electrical schematics, product manuals, and maintenance documentation. 
• Solid problem-solving, multi-tasking and prioritization skills.
• Prepare work to be accomplished by studying assembly instructions, blueprints, schematics, specifications, and parts lists; gather parts, subassemblies, tools, and materials 
• Perform routine maintenance, inspections, troubleshoot malfunctions and repairs on equipment as well as provide installation support of new or revamped equipment. 
• Assist in electrical upgrades and repairs along with implementation of tailored predictive and preventive maintenance on our equipment. 
• Job requires travel and spending periods of time on customer sites for installation, commissioning, and/or repairs of process controls and automation equipment throughout North America. 

What you'll need 

• Willing to travel to customer’s facilities throughout North America. 
• Vocational/Associate's degree or 5+ years of experience electrical service or equivalent combination of education and experience in metals industry, heavy equipment design, degree or certification is a plus but not required. You need to have sound knowledge and understanding of machinery basics, a high aptitude in mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems. 
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, or schematics and identify parts, operations and applications of tools used in machining production techniques while maintaining a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations 
• Skills to read, maintain and properly report readings from various measurement and calibration tools utilized in fitting, alignment or setting of mechanical equipment. 
• Computer Skills: Pro/E or similar 3D CAD environment is required. Working knowledge of AutoCAD or similar 2D CAD environment is of importance. 3+ years of MS Office applications experience.
