Our long-established and growing company is looking for an Electrical Field Service Technician to join our team in the Chesapeake, VA area. This position requires extensive field-based electrical expertise, with frequent travel to industrial customer sites to diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair power generation and control systems. The role involves hands-on testing, system installation, and maintenance of complex electrical equipment, including motors, generators, and standby power systems, using advanced diagnostic tools. **Consistent hours, steady work, no lay-offs, and huge growth potential. Requirements:
- High school degree or equivalent.
- 8+ years’ experience in industrial electrical troubleshooting with a background in AC/DC motors, controls, and generators.
- 8+ years’ experience as an Industrial Electrician.
- 4+ years of customer service experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Diagnose operational problems in electrical power generation and control systems and equipment.
- Use specialized measuring and testing instruments such as voltmeters, ammeters, ohmmeters, meggers, Advanced Motor Circuit Testers [AWA IV-12, PDMA MCE, Megger ADX 15], etc.
- Make standard computations relating to load requirements of wiring or electrical equipment
- Plans and lays out work from blueprints, sketches, wiring diagrams or specifications
- Installs, repairs, and tests electrical systems, electrical equipment, emergency or standby generation systems, etc.
- Conduct IR Scans of Customer Power and Control Systems.
- Perform Trouble Shooting, Maintenance, and Repair of Electric Motors [AC Induction. AC Synchronous, AC Wound Rotor, DC Shunt Wound, DC Series Wound], and Generators [AC and DC] in the Field.
- Significant travel to customer sites (50% average, typically within a 250-mile radius). Sites include, but are not limited to, paper mills, power plants, and water treatment plants.
