Pay: $75,000 - $90,000 DEPENDS ON EXPERIENCE
Summary:
The Electrical Estimator is responsible for completing accurate, competitive, and timely quotes across all product categories while supporting company goals, company needs, and operational efficiency. This position works closely with the Project Managers, Sales & Vendors to ensure estimates are complete, accurate and delivered within a required timeline.
Responsibilities:
- Reviews electrical plans, specifications, addendums, RFIs, and project documentation to prepare detailed and accurate takesoffs.
- Identify required materials, equipment, and labor factors applicable to the project scope.
- Develop accurate cost estimates for electrical systems, including distribution, lighting, controls, service gear, and related components.
- Prepare and submit complete bid packages within required deadlines.
- Analyze project risk factors, value engineering opportunities, and potential cost-saving options.
- Request and evaluate quotes from vendors and suppliers for specialty equipment and material pricing.
- Maintain strong knowledge of electrical product lines, brand alternatives, and market pricing.
- Build and maintain professional relationships with vendors to ensure competitive and timely pricing.
- Work closely with Project Managers, Sales Teams, and Contractors to clarify scopes and resolve discrepancies.
- Attend pre-bid meetings, walkthroughs, or jobsite visits as required.
- Provide post-award support, including bill of material verification, submittals, and handoff to Project Management.
- Maintain organized bid files, notes, pricing history, and project documentation.
- Update and manage bid logs, CRM tools, and estimating software.
- Track changes, revisions, and addendums issued throughout the bid process.
- Communicate professionally with contractors, architects, engineers, and internal teams.
- Provide timely responses to customer inquiries, clarifications, and product alternatives.
- Deliver high-quality, accurate work while meeting strict deadlines and multiple bid schedules.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Electrician certification or a relevant bachelor's degree or a minimum of three (3) years industry experience.
- Ability to provide highly-accurate estimates for a wide variety of electrical projects.
- Excellent Customer Service skills
- Professional demeanor and appearance.
- Assessment and analysis - this is a highly analytical role, requiring the ability to quickly assess and analyze multiple data points, including blueprints, material costs, and timelines, to deliver an accurate estimate.
- Numerical skills - mathematical skills are also vital since electrical estimators have to ensure that their calculations are correct to keep jobs profitable.
- Attention to detail - electrical estimators also need to be highly detail-oriented and able to note all of the details of a blueprint, including specialty fixtures and distances between elements.
- Organization and Time Management skills - time management is also key in this role, as electrical estimators need to make sure that they submit bides on time and often have multiple projects occuring at once.
