Job Description
Reports to the Manager, Electrical Engineering in the Electrical Design department
- ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- With direction from an engineering mentor: research, plan, design, and document electrical and electronic designs in accordance with product requirements. Designs may include printed circuit boards, programmable logic coding, and higher-level assemblies integrating custom and off-the-shelf components
- Assist in sustaining engineering tasks which include identifying Fit/Form/Function equivalent components, updates to existing designs to replace obsolete parts, and update legacy documentation
- Collaborate with technicians and other engineers to create, test, and release prototypes
- Test and integrate designs into the system, in collaboration with engineering mentors and technicians
- Support Engineering and Project Management in updating project timetables and tracking progress

- Preferred or Desired:
- Experience with a printed circuit board schematic capture program and circuit board design
- Exposure to working with electronic circuitry through coursework or other equivalent work experience
- Hands-on experience with electronic test equipment, as well as some familiarity with soldering equipment that may be utilized to fabricate prototype components
- Experience in medical imaging design, interfaces, signal processing, and concepts. Skills or experience in FPGA/PLD design, National Instruments LabVIEW, requirements development, microcontrollers, and test protocol development are advantageous
- Familiarity with the use of engineering tools such as version control and defect tracking systems
- Required:
- Must be a self-starter and eager to take on challenges
- Must work well in a team environment
- Basic Electrical Engineering or equivalent courses completed (circuits 1, electronics lab course, basic programming, etc). Suitable work experience in a technically related field may be considered in lieu of formal education
- Good computer skills, including the use of standard office software programs including spreadsheets, word-processing, and email applications
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Indoor Environment: The position takes place indoors, providing a comfortable and climate-controlled workspace
- Sedentary Work: This role involves extended periods of sitting and working at a desk, requiring good ergonomic practices
- Computer Usage: Proficiency with computers, including software applications and communication tools, is essential for tasks and collaboration
- Minimal Physical Strain: While physical demands are generally low, occasional light lifting and moving of objects might be required
Structured Schedule: This position usually follows regular business hours, promoting a consistent and predictable work routine
