Electrical Engineering Co-Op | ControlTech Automation
Dates: January 2026 - August 2026 or June 2026 - December 2026

Who You’ll Work With
As an independent division within Barry-Wehmiller Design Group, Inc., ControlTech Automation (CTA) is a control panel integrator and fabricator for process, packaging, utility, and other industries. CTA is based in St. Louis and specializes in control panels for systems integrators and production facilities located throughout the United States. CTA can provide control solutions for a single piece of equipment, an entire process, or a complete plant. CTA has engineering design capabilities or will build panels from customer-supplied design packages.
When you join ControlTech Automation as an Electrical Engineering Co-Op, you are joining a team that will challenge you and position you for growth. In this role, you will work with a team of industry experts to help the world’s leading companies solve their most difficult problems. You will join our Control Systems Integration team and partner with seasoned leaders, technical specialists, and subject matter experts to deliver the highest quality solutions to our clients with consistency and accuracy.
What You’ll Do
Gain hands-on experience in industrial automation and electrical engineering
Immerse yourself in the day-to-day tasks that our full-time engineers handle and support both office and manufacturing floor operations
Design electrical control panels using AutoCAD Electrical
Read and interpret electrical schematics and technical documentation
Research and source electrical components and parts for projects
Support the engineering and manufacturing teams with EET-related tasks
Collaborate via Microsoft Teams and email to communicate effectively within cross-functional teams
Gain exposure to modern manufacturing environments and control systems
Participate in presentations and team meetings to share updates and progress
Contribute to real-time projects that directly impact client success
What You’ll Bring
Current enrollment in an Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology (EET) program
A strong interest in automation, controls, and manufacturing systems
Basic experience or coursework in AutoCAD, electrical design, or related software
The ability to read and interpret schematics and technical diagrams
Solid communication skills and a willingness to learn how to collaborate in professional settings
The ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced, hands-on work environment
A strong work ethic, superior attention to detail, and a problem-solving mindset
A willingness to work both in the office and on the manufacturing floor
