Summary:

Design, develop, test, and supervise the manufacture of electrical equipment, such as electric motors, radar and navigation systems, communications systems, or power generation equipment

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Engage in all phases of product development, including concept, architecture, design, test, and service support.

  • Work with cross-functional teams to take a design from specification through design, development, test, and delivery.

  • Review and develop technical specifications.

  • Design electronic assemblies for specification compliance.

  • Verify that designs meet or exceed all requirements and specifications.

  • Analyze analog, digital, and power circuit designs.

  • Perform detailed technical analyses and create test and analysis reports.

  • Develop technical solutions to known production, reliability, or a performance problem.

  • Generate design documentation to ensure the delivery of a quality finished product.

  • Facilitate design reviews with key stake holders, including Design Engineering, Production and Manufacturing.

  • This individual’s primary responsibility will be to develop, qualify, and support electronic assemblies for use in Power Test's products. This includes: System design for machinery and test systems in engine and transmission testing and remanufacturing environments.

    • Electrical and Electromechanical component selections
    • Control system set-up and tuning
    • System customization to align the systems with customers applications
  • Support manufacturing and field service as needed to meet business and customer needs

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.   • Experience in electronics design, development, and test
  • Experience successfully configuring and tuning electrical and electromechanical control systems
  • Experience designing electrical systems used in mechatronic applications
  • Proven track record applying UL, CSA, and IEC standard to products and achieving certification to those standards
  • Proven ability to configure system user interfaces (UI) and reporting tools to meet customer’s needs.
  • Experience selecting and specifying industrial control devices including electric motors, variable speed motor drives, PLCs, other industrial controllers, sensors, connectors and cable assemblies.
  • Design and troubleshooting experience with single and three phase AC systems and DC systems.
  • Hands-on experience operating, testing and working on engines and/or transmissions is preferred.
  • Knowledge of schematic entry and board layout tools is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and preferably AutoCAD electrical
  • Working knowledge of SolidWorks and SolidWorks Electrical is preferred.
  • Proven experience interacting with customers to identify and resolve issues and learning their business to adapt systems to their needs.
  • Experience with circuit simulation tools is preferred.
  • Must be capable of working independently in a lab environment.
  • Strong verbal and written skills required.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering required.
  • 5+ years of experience.
