Description

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Electrical Engineer II to join our team in designing advanced parcel, package, and letter sorting systems. These systems integrate custom printed circuit boards (PCBs), conveyors, stackers, camera identification systems, and print/labeling technologies. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing comprehensive electrical design packages and collaborating cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure seamless execution and testing.

This role requires a proactive problem solver with a strong sense of ownership, a passion for continuous learning, and the ability to thrive in a team-oriented environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and implement replacements for obsolete PCB and system components.
  • Redesign legacy PCBs that are no longer maintainable.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve PCB/system-level issues.
  • Lead new product development from concept through production, aligned with customer specifications and operational needs.
  • Create and manage Bills of Materials (BOMs) using SYSPRO software.
  • Maintain revision control and documentation through Engineering Change Notices (ECNs).
  • Ensure compliance with international electrical and safety standards (UL, CSA, NEC, IEC, CE).
  • Develop schematic and wiring diagrams, and author assembly instructions for electrical controls.
  • Design control panel layouts for motor control, AC/DC power distribution, and low-voltage I/O systems involving PLCs, VFDs, safety relays, and PCBs.
  • Provide regular project updates to the Project Manager and Engineering Manager, including risk and opportunity assessments.
  • Support field technicians during installation and debugging of PCB-controlled systems.
  • Assist with control and power design for package sorter systems.
  • Provide general support for letter sorter machine control hardware.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associates degree in Electrical Engineering or a related certification; may consider on the job experience in lieu of degree requirements.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in PCB design.
  • At least 3 years of experience in electrical engineering or a related role.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Familiarity with PLC-based control system design.
  • Experience in systems control design.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with Altium PCB CAD software.
  • Familiarity with Allen Bradley, Schneider, ABB, and Siemens control products.
  • Understanding of network protocols (Ethernet TCP/IP, EtherCAT, Modbus).
  • Experience with VFDs for both induction and servo motor control.
  • Working knowledge of NEC, NFPA, and UL508A standards.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with SolidWorks Electrical is a plus.
  • Knowledge of material handling system components such as sorters, conveyors, and electrical panels.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds from ground to chest level.
  • Continuous use of speech, hearing, and vision.
  • Intermittent sitting, standing, walking, reaching, climbing, and lifting.
  • Ability to stand and walk on cement surfaces.

Travel Requirements

  • Willingness to travel up to 25% as needed.
