Lumentum’s is seeking a talented Electrical Engineer to join our growing engineering R&D team in San Jose.

This is a cross functional role, interacting with optical, mechanical, FW/SW teams, etc. to develop laser systems and deploy them to market. Bring your enthusiasm and experience and join our growing team!

Responsibilities:

  • Support overall electrical architecture for new systems.
  • Power system architecture, e.g., AC/DC converters and DC/DC conversion strategies.
  • Partner with optical, mechanical, firmware and test teams on product specification drafting, schedule estimation, progress tracking, etc.
  • Perform electrical modeling analysis, design tradeoffs, and PCBA schematic / PCB layout design.
  • Drive design transfer into production.
  • Work with Quality and Regulatory Assurance to ensure products are developed and validated in a manner that complies with global standards and meet customer quality requirements.
  • Drive PCBA and system EVT/DVT/EMC/Qualification etc.

Essential Qualifications:

  • 3+ years proven experience
  • Great communication skills (English).
  • Hands-on PCBA bring-up experiences with lab instrumentations.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or equivalent. Masters or PhD would be a plus.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Distributed system development experience (multiple processors and power supplies).
  • High power electrical experience up to multiple kilowatts of power.
  • CE or TUV product certification experience.
