Job Overview:

About the Opportunity

We are seeking a 12-24+ Month Contract Electrical Engineer to support new product development and ongoing engineering initiatives for a leading manufacturer of industrial equipment. This position offers the opportunity to work on electrical systems from concept through production while partnering with manufacturing, quality, sourcing, and engineering teams to develop reliable, high-quality products.

The ideal candidate has experience designing electrical systems, wire harnesses, electrical schematics, and supporting product validation in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and release electrical systems for new and existing products.
  • Create and modify electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
  • Design and support wire harness routing, component selection, and electrical architecture.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Manufacturing, Quality, Purchasing, and Engineering to resolve production and field issues.
  • Perform root cause analysis and troubleshoot electrical system failures.
  • Develop and execute validation plans to ensure system reliability and compliance.
  • Support prototype builds, product launches, and engineering change requests.
  • Participate in design reviews and continuously improve product performance.
  • Maintain engineering documentation and ensure compliance with company design standards.
  • Provide technical support for manufacturing and field service teams as needed.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Computer Engineering Technology, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience designing electrical systems within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and Bills of Materials.
  • Experience troubleshooting electrical systems and supporting production.
  • Strong understanding of product development processes.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Preferred

  • Experience with wire harness design.
  • Background in heavy equipment, commercial vehicles, agricultural equipment, construction equipment, HVAC, or industrial machinery.
  • Knowledge of CAN communication protocols (J1939 preferred).
  • Experience with APQP, PPAP, DFMEA/PFMEA, DVP&R, and product validation.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD Electrical, ORCAD, SolidWorks Electrical, Creo, Siemens NX, or similar CAD software.
  • Experience supporting prototype builds and new product introductions (NPI).
