The Electrical Designer is responsible for creating accurate, detailed technical plans for electrical systems using computer–aided design (CAD) programs to convert specifications and design information from engineers into schematics and blueprints. This position will prepare comprehensive wiring diagrams for electrical equipment to meet project objectives, design information requirements, and engineering specifications. The Electrical Designer will also collect, study, and combine IO layouts, rough sketches, and initial design ideas from engineers to build coherent technical drafts for project managers.


Job Responsibilities:

  

· Collect, study, and combine rough sketches and initial design ideas from engineers into coherent technical drafts for further study and review by project managers.

· Create accurate, detailed technical plans for electrical systems using computer-aided design programs to convert specifications and design information from engineers into schematics and blueprints.

· Check that final technical drafts include all relevant information in an easy-to-read format.

· Verify that calculations, measurements, and units are accurate based on initial design information from engineers to meet customer requirements for performance, safety, and quality.

· Update electrical drawing packages to match current manufactured or installed electrical assembly and wiring, including I/O points.

· Perform drawing checks to confirm accuracy and acceptability guided by drafting standards and specifications.

· Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Required:


· Associate degree in drafting or AutoCAD, or relevant work experience.

· 2+ years of experience in drafting related to electrical work.

· Proficient with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.

· Basic understanding of electrical circuits and design skills.

· Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills

· Ability to work well on a team.


Preferred:


· Previous PLC or control panel design experience.

· Knowledgeable of various electrical standards including, but not limited to the following: NEC, NFPA, NFPA70E, UL, ANSI, CSA, IEC, EN.
