Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled Electrical Design Engineer with hands-on experience in designing industrial control systems, with a strong emphasis on control panel design and AutoCAD Electrical. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of electrical schematics, be capable of interpreting and reviewing Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), and thrive in a collaborative, project-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop electrical control systems for industrial machinery and automation projects

  • Create detailed electrical drawings and control panel layouts using AutoCAD Electrical

  • Develop and maintain Bill of Materials (BOMs) and wiring schematics for panel builds

  • Review and interpret P&ID diagrams to ensure accurate instrumentation and control integration

  • Collaborate with mechanical engineers, project managers, and customers to define project requirements

  • Ensure designs comply with UL 508A, NFPA 79, NEC, and other relevant standards

  • Support panel shop assembly and testing; provide troubleshooting during panel build and commissioning

  • Assist with continuous improvement initiatives and product standardization efforts

  • Maintain accurate project documentation and support the preparation of technical manuals

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience)

  • 3+ years of experience designing electrical control systems and control panels

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical

  • Strong understanding of P&ID drawings, control circuits, and instrumentation

  • Knowledge of relevant codes and standards (UL, NEC, NFPA, IEC, etc.)

  • Excellent communication and documentation skills

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines

  • Experience with PLC and HMI selection or integration is a plus

Preferred Skills (Nice to Have):

  • Experience working in manufacturing, industrial automation, or OEM environments

  • Familiarity with electrical component selection (relays, breakers, sensors, VFDs, etc.)

  • Exposure to panel building, commissioning, or field service work
