Job Overview:

This is a hands-on, plant-level role requiring controls/automation experience. This role does not manage direct reports.Required:•Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering with 5–10+ years of industrial experience, or equivalent education/experience.•Yokogawa, Allen-Bradley ControlLogix, Siemens and Mitsubishi PLC programming/troubleshooting.•Yokogawa DCS, SCADA/HMI, instrumentation and process controls.•NEC, NFPA 70E and NFPA 70B knowledge.•Capital projects from concept/design through construction and startup.•Hands-on troubleshooting and root-cause failure analysis.Preferred:•Microsoft Project, AutoCAD and EasyPower or related software.Chemical manufacturing preferred but would look at any plant industry. They DO NOT want candidates in consulting roles.Every other Friday is remote (you have to answer emergency emails or calls but the company gives this day to employees to get personal business complete during the week when things are open like doctor apts etc). I sell this as an extra 26 days a year on top of the 3 weeks vacation. 

Electrical Controls EngineerWe are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to support the electrical, controls, automation, and process-control systems within a highly automated manufacturing facility. This is a hands-on engineering role with responsibility for troubleshooting and improving existing systems as well as leading automation, electrical, and capital improvement projects from concept through startup.The ideal candidate will have strong industrial controls experience, including PLC programming and troubleshooting, DCS/SCADA systems, instrumentation, VFDs, and industrial electrical distribution.What You’ll Do• Program, troubleshoot, modify, and optimize PLC-based control systems, including Allen-Bradley ControlLogix and Siemens S7/TIA Portal.• Support and maintain DCS, SCADA and HMI systems used to control and monitor manufacturing processes.• Troubleshoot complex electrical, controls, instrumentation, and automation problems and perform root-cause analysis.• Support industrial instrumentation, control valves, process loops, interlocks, permissives, alarms, and sequence controls.• Configure and troubleshoot industrial networks and communications, including EtherNet/IP, Modbus, Profibus, Profinet, OPC and related protocols.• Support PLC-to-PLC, PLC-to-DCS, remote I/O, gateways and third-party equipment integration.• Work with MCCs, VFDs, transformers, switchgear, substations and facility electrical distribution systems.• Support electrical safety and compliance requirements, including NEC, NFPA 70E and NFPA 70B.• Lead capital projects from initial concept and cost estimates through design, equipment selection, installation, commissioning and startup.• Develop and maintain P&IDs, electrical one-lines, schematics, control documentation and other engineering drawings.• Coordinate equipment vendors, contractors and outside technical resources.• Partner closely with Operations and Maintenance to improve equipment reliability, process performance and plant uptime.What We’re Looking For• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.• 5–10+ years of industrial electrical, controls, automation, instrumentation or process-control experience.• Strong hands-on PLC programming and troubleshooting experience.• Experience with Allen-Bradley ControlLogix and/or Siemens S7/TIA Portal.• Experience with DCS, SCADA/HMI and industrial instrumentation.• Working knowledge of industrial electrical distribution, MCCs, VFDs, transformers and switchgear.• Ability to read and develop electrical schematics, one-line drawings and P&IDs.• Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills.• Ability to work effectively with Maintenance, Operations, Engineering, vendors and contractors.• AutoCAD experience preferred.• Experience with Yokogawa DCS, Mitsubishi PLCs, Aspen Historian, EasyPower, medium-voltage systems, protective relaying and arc-flash/short-circuit studies is a plus.
