Job Description:

As an Electrical Controls Engineer, you will play a crucial role in designing, analyzing, and resolving engineering problems related to electrical control systems. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in electrical engineering, possess excellent problem-solving skills, and thrive in a collaborative team environment.

Essential Functions:

  • Controls for Mateer Powder Filling and Burt Roll-Through Labeler machines, involving project planning, system architecture design, and machine program development (PLC).

  • Design and alter complex electrical equipment, considering manufacturing feasibility, cost, and operational efficiency.

  • Prepare layouts using CAD tools, evaluate new parts, generate schematics and bills of material for complex equipment.

  • Assist and lead in testing and debugging equipment during startup, including occasional travel (up to 5% travel) to customer sites for startup commissioning, technical assistance, and supporting field service teams.

  • Continually researching replacement components to provide support of past, present, and future machines for both product lines.

  • Manage and maintain project files, documentation, and records.

  • Assist in leading and mentoring team members. Perform other duties as assigned to contribute to the overall success of the engineering team and company.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with key contacts, suppliers, and clients.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 2+ years of experience with industrial control systems, specifically with the ability to program PLCs from scratch, design control logic and schematics, configure IP addresses, download programs, and debug and troubleshoot end-to-end.
  • AutoCAD Proficiency: Ability to edit and create electrical drawings and schematics, including wiring diagrams, redline markups, and basic electrical panel design. Must be capable of sizing motors, contactors, starters, and circuit breakers accurately.
  • Experience with Allen-Bradley ControlLogix and CompactLogix platforms.

Desired Experience:

  • VFD and Servo experience.
  • Experience programming Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs)
  • Knowledge of Explosion Proof, UL (CSA/ESA), and CE requirements
