Express Employment Professionals in Lynchburg is seeking an Electrical Controls Design Engineer for one of its well-established clients in the Lynchburg area. This position develops electrical designs and control systems for industrial equipment and provides technical support throughout assembly, installation, and troubleshooting. The right candidate will have a strong background in industrial electrical controls, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate with coworkers, customers, and vendors.
Skills and Experience Requirements
- Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering with an emphasis on industrial control systems, or five years of related industry experience.
- Experience with Allen-Bradley ControlLogix, CompactLogix, and SLC 500 PLC systems.
- Experience with motion controls, servos, and Rockwell HMI systems.
- Familiarity with IFM, Siemens, and SICK controls and components.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical, version 2018 or newer.
- Knowledge of UL standards, including UL 508A, and the National Electrical Code (NEC).
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical schematic drawings.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Excel and a basic understanding of OSHA standards.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively with coworkers, customers, and vendors.
- NR12 experience is a plus.
Job Responsibilities
- Design electrical control panels, motor circuits, and control circuits to meet project requirements and UL 508A specifications.
- Prepare equipment and field-component layouts showing motors, solenoids, photoelectric sensors, and limit switches.
- Select programmable controllers based on input/output, memory, and customer requirements.
- Develop bills of materials and production documentation for control panels, consoles, wiring, and field components.
- Prepare design information for drafting and review drawings and bills of materials for accuracy.
- Support control-panel assembly and wiring.
- Coordinate equipment interfaces and project needs with vendors.
- Provide telephone support for field installation, troubleshooting, and customer service issues.
- Work overtime as project needs require.
Pay:** $62,400–$93,600 annually, depending on skills and experience. **
Schedule: First shift, 8 am to 4 pm.
