Job Summary
The Electrical Construction Coordinator is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing electrical construction activities for substation, transmission, and distribution projects. This role ensures projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with engineering specifications, environmental regulations, and quality standards. Primary responsibilities include coordinating construction activities, monitoring safety and quality compliance, and serving as the liaison between project stakeholders to support successful project execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate daily construction activities for assigned electrical substation and transmission line projects.
- Monitor contractor performance to ensure work complies with engineering drawings, specifications, permits, and safety requirements.
- Conduct pre-construction site inspections, constructability reviews, and project planning meetings.
- Review construction drawings and identify potential field issues before work begins.
- Ensure all required permits, environmental plans, and safety documentation are obtained and maintained.
- Monitor project progress and communicate status updates to project managers and engineering teams.
- Serve as the primary point of contact between field crews, contractors, engineering teams, and project stakeholders.
- Respond to Requests for Information (RFIs) and coordinate timely issue resolution.
- Order and coordinate delivery of field materials, equipment, and rental resources.
- Track project inventory and identify material shortages to minimize schedule delays.
- Prepare daily construction reports documenting project progress, schedule performance, safety observations, and quality concerns.
- Maintain redline drawings and construction documentation throughout project execution.
- Perform routine field inspections and safety audits.
- Verify utility locates and support project closeout documentation.
- Review and approve contractor timesheets and field documentation as required.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to construction quality, safety, and project execution.
- Perform additional project-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Education & Experience Requirements
Required:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum of five (5) years of construction, maintenance, or field coordination experience supporting utility, industrial, or infrastructure projects.
- Experience working on electrical substation, transmission, distribution, or industrial construction projects.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, construction plans, and technical specifications.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat.
Preferred:
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Experience managing commercial or industrial utility construction projects.
- Background in electrical construction or engineering.
Special Requirements
- Valid driver's license with reliable transportation.
- Ability to travel to project sites throughout the assigned regional service area as needed.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to climb ladders and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to pass required pre-employment and random drug and alcohol screenings in accordance with applicable regulations.
- OSHA 10 certification or equivalent safety training preferred.

Work Environment
This position primarily supports field construction activities and requires regular travel to project sites throughout the assigned regional service area. Work is performed in both office and outdoor construction environments and may involve exposure to varying weather conditions, uneven terrain, and active construction sites. Occasional evening or weekend work may be required to support project schedules. Travel expenses associated with business-related assignments are reimbursed in accordance with company policy.
