Position: Electrical Assembler
Reports to: Production Supervisor / Assembly Lead

Position Summary: The employee demonstrates knowledge in Electrical Theory and the application of NEC and NFPA 79 standards during the assembly of machines with AC and DC circuits. The position interprets engineering drawings to assemble, rebuild, and repair electrical and components for CMD products and utilizes various power tools (including drill press, band saw, and stud welder) to support the assembly of machines and components. In this role, the employe will collaborate with engineering teams to implement necessary changes and update print packages.
Essential Functions:
• Apply electronic theory and electrical testing procedures to layout, build, test, troubleshoot, repair, and modify electrical equipment.
• Assemble electrical components, sub-assemblies, and systems according to engineering drawings. Position and align parts in specified relationship to each other. Mount assembled components and attach functional and cosmetic hardware such as caps, clamps, and knobs.
• Diagnose malfunctioning electrical components using test equipment, computer, and engineering drawings. Assist R & D technicians and engineering in developing new equipment. Test run machines to ensure proper operation of components such as photo-eyes, limit switches and solenoid valves. Test for proper sequencing of machine operations.
• Connect components and route wires between individual components, using connectors, terminals, soldering and other wiring procedures.
• Use business system to enter time spent working on assemblies/sub-assemblies and to complete operations.
• Coordinate with engineering to ensure Engineering Change Requests are submitted.
• Responsible for meeting ISO quality standards which require individuals to take responsibility for their own quality, verify their work is correct and then affix their signature to the appropriate documentation, i.e., drawing, checklist, etc.
• Use PC to interface with programmable controllers and servo modules, transfer drive parameters and run diagnostics checks. Must be able to manually load programs into electrical components.
• Complete final inspection checklist and inspect equipment for quality.
• Assist other departments to optimize throughput.
• Visibly support continuous improvement activities. Participate in rapid improvement events. Support transition activities, as required. Maintain an open mind throughout the change process. Work with others to continuously fuel improvement throughout the company.
• Responsible for own safety. Practices safe work habits and ensures all safety rules are followed. Responsible for keeping the area clean and organized to ensure safe working conditions.

Competencies:
• Knowledge of electrical assembly to construct, rebuild, and repair machinery according to work order specifications.
• Computer proficiency: ability to learn and utilize the Enterprise Resource Planning tool (ERP), Microsoft and ADP applications.
• Ability to read engineering drawings.
• Ability to set up and operate power tools.
• Team player who is quality conscious, industrious, and detail oriented.

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, reach, and use hands and fingers.
• Physical movement is required to inspect, touch, bend, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch or twist in the capital equipment manufacturing process.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements and ability to adjust focus.
• Light to moderate lifting may be required.
• Ability to stand or sit for extended periods while working at a desk or computer.
• Ability to navigate manufacturing floor environment, which may include walking on uneven surfaces, climbing stairs, and standing for extended periods.
• Capacity to wear personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, ear protection, and hard hat as needed.
• Ability to tolerate exposure to moderate levels of noise, vibration, and varying temperatures in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to follow health and safety guidelines and protocols including emergency procedures.
• Regular, predictable attendance is required.

Education and Experience:
• Associate’s degree in electrical technology, electronics certificate or similar, and/ or equivalent experience and training.
• Technical training in electrical systems, blueprint reading, wiring, and soldering.
• Two+ years of experience, preferred.
Additional Requirements: Must have tools required to perform work. CMD provides a tool and safety boot allowance.
