EngineeringJob Description
What starts with YOU, moves the world!
Hyster-Yale Materials Handling, Inc, a world-class manufacturer of industrial lift trucks, has an outstanding opportunity for an exceptional and talented Electrical Architecture Engineer based at our Greenville, NC Warehouse Product Development Center (WPDC).
This role is critical to creating, modifying, and implementing designs that meet customer needs. You will collaborate across the organization to ensure the delivery of high‑quality forklift trucks. Join our team as we take forklift design to the next level.
You will be responsible for the “nervous system” of the truck, spanning from initial architectural concepts through physical vehicle integration. This role bridges hardware, software, and mechanical packaging to deliver efficient, robust, and manufacturable electrical distribution systems.
What you will do:
Architecture Design: Define and maintain vehicle‑level electrical architecture, including network topologies (CAN, LIN, Ethernet) and power distribution systems. Develop system‑ and component‑level requirements from truck‑level requirements.
Harness Development: Create 2D schematics, wiring diagrams (WID), and Block Interconnect Diagrams (BID). Experience with Zuken E3 is preferred.
3D Routing & Packaging: Utilize CAD software (Siemens NX preferred) to route harnesses through complex 3D environments, ensuring proper bend radii and clearance from heat sources and moving parts.
Component Selection: Select connectors, terminals, seals, and shielding based on environmental factors such as IP ratings, EMI/EMC requirements, and high‑vibration industrial environments.
Integration & Validation: Lead electrical system “bring‑up” phases for prototype vehicles, troubleshooting issues and performing bench testing, including continuity, isolation, and grounding.
Manufacturing Support: Draft 2D formboards and Bills of Materials (BOMs) to ensure designs are cost‑effective and easy to install on the production line.
Who you are:
Strong communication skills with a team‑oriented mindset
Analytical thinker with a passion for problem‑solving
Curious, adaptable, and driven by continuous improvement
Able to manage competing priorities while remaining organized and detail‑oriented
What you will need:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related STEM field.
Experience: 3+ years of experience in wire harness design for industrial vehicles, automotive, or aerospace applications.
Skills, Experience & Abilities
Proficiency in CAD and PLM tools (NX, Teamcenter) with an understanding of electrical standards
Familiarity with embedded systems, real‑time communication networks (e.g., CAN), and control architectures
Knowledge of electrical engineering fundamentals, including circuits, power electronics, motor controls, and battery systems
Ability to create and interpret CAD drawings, schematics, and design layouts
