Job Overview:

Essential Functions:

  • Designs electrical instruments, equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, and domestic purposes.
  • Plans and implements research methodology and procedures to apply principles of electrical theory to engineering projects.
  • Prepares and studies technical drawings, specifications of electrical systems, and topographical maps to ensure installation and operations conform to standards and customer requirements
  • Develops applications of controls, instruments, and systems for new commercial, domestic, and industrial uses and directs physical installations, construction, maintenance, and testing activities to ensure compliance with specifications, codes, facility, and customer requirements.
  • Plans layout of electric distribution
  • Performs detailed calculations to compute and establish manufacturing, construction, and installation standards and specifications.
  • Confers with engineers, customers, and others to discuss existing or potential engineering projects and products.
  • Inspects completed installations and observes operations for conformance to design and equipment specifications, and operational and safety standards.
  • Evaluates and analyzes data regarding electric power systems and stations and recommends changes to improve operating efficiency.
  • Estimates labor, material, and construction costs, and prepares specifications for purchase of materials and equipment.
  • Compiles data and writes reports regarding existing and potential engineering studies and projects.
  • Operates computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks.
  • General electrical and control troubleshooting
  • Responsible for troubleshooting, code changes and electrical repair of all PLC and computer-controlled equipment
  • Program and document changes to programming for PLC, DCS and control systems.
  • All other duties as required and/or assigned.

Travel Requirements

0-20% overnight travel may be required

C. Special Knowledge, Skills and Training:

  • Knowledge of equipment, tools, mechanical devices, and their uses to produce motion, light, power, technology, and other applications
  • Knowledge of electric circuit boards, processors, chips, and computer hardware and software, including applications and programming
  • Knowledge of numbers, their operations, and interrelationships including arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications
  • Knowledge of design techniques, principles, tools, and instruments involved in the production and use of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models
  • Knowledge of inputs, outputs, raw materials, waste, quality control, costs, and techniques for maximizing the manufacture and distribution of goods
  • Knowledge of materials, methods, and the appropriate tools to construct objects, structures, and buildings
  • Knowledge of principles and processes involved in business and organizational planning, coordination, and execution.
  • Knowledge and prediction of physical principles, laws, and applications including air, water, material dynamics, light, atomic principles, heat, electric theory, earth formations, and meteorological and related natural phenomena
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, benefits, repair, and maintenance
  • Hands on experience with PLC, DCS, Robotics and computer programming
  • Electrical and control troubleshooting and repair.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or relevant work/study experience.

•Must have advanced computer software skills.

•Must have ability to troubleshoot complex electrical/electronic design and systems.

•Ability to plan, execute, install and document all electrical systems and process changes effectively.
