General Information/Job Summary
The E&I Manager will be a key part of the management team and have a broad range of responsibility. They will be a driver in analyzing and improving operational processes, quality of work, productivity, and efficiency. They will be responsible for monitoring daily activity in support of projects. A critical part of their job will be ensuring the necessary resources to continue meeting the on-site project needs; this includes close collaboration with project management, engineering, estimating, procurement, logistics, contracts management, accounting, human resources, etc.
Responsibilities/Competencies
- Communicating project needs to the Project Manager’s;
- Monitoring daily activities to ensure project needs are being met;
- Liaising between departments to provide solutions that work most effectively;
- Supporting the proactive close-out of any open issues;
- Actively participate in the discussion of project execution strategy and work to ensure this is effectively communicated to all team members;
- Conduct in-depth reviews and analysis of project documents so that you are familiar with requirements;
- Evaluating processes and procedures for quality and efficiency improvements;
- Train and mentor employees in the areas of project management.
- Establish and maintain a consistent corporate safety, cost and operating culture for projects
- Provide effective leadership through supervision, evaluation, development and mentorship of project personnel
- Participate in bid reviews with Estimating Department as assigned
- Review proposed plan of each project to determine that estimate job cost is in line with the budget, evaluate procedures for meeting project goals, evaluate and approve staffing requirements and secure available resources to construct various element of each project
- Coordinate staff needs with Human Resources in recruitment efforts
- Responsible for consistent cost code systems management
- Coordinate with project management staff to establish roles, responsibilities, and scope of authority to perform the approved work plan
- Provide technical guidance and resources to the project management team to ensure projects progresses on schedule and within prescribed budget
- Review weekly and monthly project status reports and evaluate that schedules or plans will meet project goals
- Participate in the selection and contract execution with subcontractors and suppliers
- Oversee and/or audit project cost controls, budgets, invoicing, estimates and project forecasting and provide input to upper management related to project operations and status
- Ensure proper management of project billing
- Oversee change management process
- Set productive, consistent, and acceptable work example
Requirements
- 5 to 10 years’ experience managing Industrial Electrical and Instrumentation projects (Minimum 5yrs. Oil & Gas Industry Experience with 3 of these years being in project management)
- Construction or General Business Degree Preferred
- Estimating experience a plus
- Possess working knowledge of all projects plans, specifications, Owner
- Contract, subcontracts, purchase orders, daily correspondence, drawings, submittals and all other project related documents and maintain a complete and accurate set of as-built drawings
- Able to work under pressure and coordinate numerous activities and groups of people who need to cooperate to achieve maximum efficiency
- Self-motivated with skills to motivate others
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong computer skills
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
- Ability to walk the property and laydown yards.
- Ability to carry up to 50 pounds.
