Job Description

ESSENTIAL Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensures all OSHA Required records and training is completed and documented for the site
  • Ensures facility equipment is checked on a monthly/quarterly basis
  • Lead all accident & near miss investigations to ensure that a root cause is identified & all actions plans are completed.
  • Manage the safety resources, provide guidance, direction and establish priorities for implementing safety & health policies, standards, and procedures in the Distribution Center
  • Formulate, recommend, and evaluate policies, procedures, & standards to ensure Site safety practices are consistent with prescribed laws.
  • Develop and conduct safety training orientation for new teammates.
  • Assist with the establishment and actively lead the facility Safety Committee.
  • Maintain documentation for reporting purposes and audits.
  • Track and trend leading safety indicators.
  • Submit written reports as required
  • Drive standardization and proper execution by working collaboratively with onsite Operations teams to ensure training programs are tailored to accommodate site specific business needs.
  • Support the purchasing coordinator for the site in PO reconciliation
  • Facilitate implementation of safety/training/security programs and practices within the Distribution Center
  • Works with and supports the corporate safety initiatives
  • Apply best practices and actions to support sustained improvement and shape the Safety Culture
  • Ensure facility are working within all legislative requirements (Federal, State and Local) and corporate standards with regards to safety and security compliance
  • Ensure Proper PPE is available for all teammates
  • Ensure Covid Protocols are followed & enforced
  • Acts as the liaison with facility security service.
  • Responsible for ensuring facility security guards are following proper procedures
  • Support and drive company 3Q6S Program
  • Increase facility Safety awareness & communication
  • Maintain accurate/update to date training matrix for all MHE Equipment & DC Process’s
  • Ensures total adherence to all Federal statues regarding warehouse operations and OSHA regulations

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Safety, Occupational Safety and Health, or related field required; Master’s degree preferred
  • 3 (three) years or more experience in implementing and maintaining safety programs
  • 2 (two) years or more experience in distribution environment.
  • 2 (two) years or more experience utilizing WMS and MS Office in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Ability to teach instructionally
  • Ability to manage reporting processes for safety and security incidents (incident and accident reporting, investigations and able to recommend prevention methods)
  • Valid driver’s license

SKILLS:

  • Computer literacy to include Warehouse Management Systems (knowledge of Dynamics AX is a plus) and MS Office (Word, Excel, Internet Explorer) PC skills at an advanced level; systems knowledge at an intermediate level.
  • Communication Skills – Ability to communicate effectively with all levels within the organization to include customer service, sales, finance, employees and managers.
  • Strong organizational skills to handle multiple tasks and responsibilities in a timely manner; ability to respond and re-prioritize as customer service needs dictate.
  • Ability to develop working relationships with others and be a subject matter expert or ‘go-to’ for the department.
  • Basic understanding and ability to support international exports.
  • Multi-task within a fast pace environment.
  • High level of integrity.
  • High degree of accuracy; extreme attention to detail, strong problem solver, able to create solutions to challenges in an expedient manner.
  • Regular attendance is essential.
  • Ability to work daily or weekly overtime as needed; to include nights, weekends as needed.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Position requires sitting, walking, stooping, bending, talking in person and by phone or video; the stamina to work the shift as scheduled and on a regular basis, ability to work in a non-climate controlled facility with exposure to heat and/or cold in accordance with weather conditions, lifting large, small or awkwardly shaped items on a regular or repeated basis as needed, domestic and international travel by car, plane, train; extensive use of computer equipment.
