About the Role

We're seeking a hands-on EHS Specialist to join a well-established specialty-chemical manufacturer just outside Philadelphia. This role keeps the site legally compliant with environmental permits, safety programs, and shipping/DOT regulations, while driving a proactive safety culture on the plant floor.

You'll operate as an individual contributor reporting to a Regional HSE Manager — owning permits and reporting, running risk assessments, leading incident investigations, and coaching operators. Key Responsibilities

• Maintain compliance with environmental and safety regulations (EPA, PA DEP, DOT, OSHA, and site-specific requirements); manage environmental permits, reporting obligations, and regulatory documentation; serve as a point of contact during inspections and audits.

• Run structured risk assessments — Job Hazard Analyses (JHA/JSA), FMEA, and where applicable Process Hazard Analyses (PHA); support Management of Change (MOC).

• Lead or support investigations of safety incidents, environmental releases, and near-misses; perform root-cause analysis, drive corrective and preventive actions to closure, and trend incidents to prevent recurrence.

• Support and continuously improve core safety programs, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Confined Space Entry, Hazard Communication, Machine Guarding, and Contractor Safety.

• Conduct routine site inspections and compliance audits; partner with operations to implement sustainable, risk-reducing fixes.

• Oversee proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous materials; support waste classification, scrap handling, and vendor coordination.

• Develop and deliver EHS training (new-hire orientation and task-specific); support emergency-response plans (fire, spill, evacuation), including drills.

​​​​​​Education & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental, Safety, Chemical, Industrial, or a related engineering/science field (required).

• 3–5 years of EHS experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment (candidates with ~3 years will be considered).

• Strong working knowledge of EPA, DOT, PA DEP, and OSHA regulations.

• Hands-on experience with risk-assessment tools (JHA/JSA, FMEA, PHA) and incident investigation, root-cause analysis, and corrective action.

• Experience with core safety programs: LOTO, confined space, hazard communication, machine safety, and contractor safety.

• Preferred: Process Safety Management (PSM) exposure, PHAs/safeguards/engineering controls, and familiarity with ISO 14001 & ISO 45001.

This is an onsite, plant-floor role at an operating chemical-manufacturing facility, with exposure to industrial processes, chemicals, noise, and PPE requirements. Expect a mix of desk/compliance work and floor presence for inspections, audits, investigations, training, and drills. No remote option; candidates must be able to reliably commute to the Philadelphia/Warminster, PA area.
