Job Overview:

Position Title: EHS Specialist

Pay Range: $70,000-$80,000

Location of positions: Bakersfield, CA

***Position is in office, not hybrid, not remote***


What You’ll Do

The EHS Specialist supports a safe, compliant, and injury-free workplace by combining field safety presence with strong administrative and programmatic support. This role partners closely with operations, engineering, and leadership teams to reinforce safety ownership, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement. This position reports into the Safety Manager, with a dotted-line to the Plant Manager. 

  • Conduct routine safety inspections, audits, and hazard observations across production and office areas. 
  • Verify safe work practices, identify unsafe behaviors or conditions, and support corrective actions. 
  • Assist with incident response, initial fact gathering, and root‑cause analysis. 
  • Track corrective actions and support closure in partnership with supervisors. 
  • Deliver toolbox talks and support development of safety communication materials. 
  • Coordinate onboarding safety orientation for new hires and contractors. 
  • Maintain safety and environmental documentation including inspections, training logs, incident data, and SDS records. 
  • Assist with OSHA recordkeeping and compliance documentation. 
  • Support key safety programs such as Lockout/Tagout, chemical safety, machine guarding, ergonomics, and emergency preparedness. 
  • Participate in internal audits and recommend process improvements. 
  • Conduct environmental inspections, manage hazardous waste storage and documentation, and support spill response activities. 
  • Promote sustainability initiatives including waste reduction and recycling. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


What You Bring

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical school or associate degree preferred. 
  • 1–3 years of experience in safety, manufacturing, construction, or operations. 
  • Knowledge of OSHA requirements and general industry safety principles. 
  • Strong communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to learn digital safety systems. 
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred.
