The EHS Manager is responsible for safety strategy and the development of safety policies and practices. The incumbent is responsible for providing and promoting a workplace focused on compliance with all Federal, State and Local Industrial Standards.
Develop, implement, and maintain EHS policies, procedures, and programs to ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other applicable regulations.
Work with training department to develop and provide safety training for employees, assuring that we are providing a safe and secure work environment.
Oversee the investigation of work-related illness and injuries; investigating all accidents and assuring corrective actions are implemented.
Champion Human Performance principles through training, tools, and event learning teams.
Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and HR to address safety concerns.
Assist with Worker’s Compensation claims for the plant.
Organize and facilitate employee Safety Committee.
Facilitate audits to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards, determine corrective or preventive measures where indicated and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented.
Responsible for plant security - communicate and direct plant security company.
BS degree in safety, industrial hygiene, or environmental related discipline and 5+ years experience in EHS or related field
Certification preferred (CIH, CSP, and/or CHP)
Demonstrated computer literacy with knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software.
Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and state-specific regulations.
Experience with hazardous materials, air permits, and environmental reporting.
Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
Must be a team player that interacts effectively with co- workers in group or in independent cooperative activities.
Ability to function under pressure and able to prioritize numerous tasks with conflicting deadlines.
Ability to respond to emergencies and work flexible hours as needed.
