Job Overview:

Summary/Objective: 
Reporting to Fuyao Automotive North America, Inc., this position is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining all Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs to ensure compliance with Federal, State, and Local regulations. The EHS Manager establishes goals and metrics, drives safety leadership, fosters a strong safety culture, and ensures environmental management best practices. As an integral member of the site leadership team, this role influences decision-making and promotes cross-functional collaboration to enhance workplace safety and compliance.


Essential Functions:

  1. Leads and/or assists in the implementation of comprehensive environmental, safety and health programs, policies, and procedures.
  2. Monitors regulatory arena for new/changing regulations and rulemaking; adjusts programs/procedures accordingly.
  3. Leads risk identification programs (including various inspection programs); act as a technical resource for the sharing of regulatory requirements and best practices.
  4. Leads safety related audit and inspection processes and open issues tracking.
  5. Serves as technical resource for incident investigation and causal factor/root cause analysis may lead investigations.
  6. Liaisons with and provides recommendations to Develops, implements, and oversees site-wide environmental, health, and safety policies and procedures.
  7. Monitors and ensures compliance with all applicable EHS regulations, including MIOSHA, EPA, NIOSH, and NFPA standards.
  8. Identifies and mitigates workplace hazards through risk assessments, audits, and inspections.
  9. Leads incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action planning.
  10. Establishes and tracks key safety performance metrics (leading and lagging indicators) to drive continuous improvement.
  11. Maintains required regulatory records and ensures timely submission of reports and notifications.
  12. Coordinates and communicates EHS policies and updates across all departments and levels of the organization.
  13. Ensures proper environmental testing and compliance, including hazardous/non-hazardous waste management, wastewater, stormwater, air permitting, and chemical safety.
  14. Develops and delivers EHS training on topics such as hazard communication, machine guarding, energy control (LOTO), industrial hygiene, fall protection, confined space entry, and emergency response.
  15. Works closely with the safety committee and management team to resolve identified safety concerns and implement corrective actions.
  16. Assists in identifying and fulfilling safety-related training needs to ensure workforce competency and compliance.
  17. Evaluates and recommends EHS-related equipment, protective devices, and facility modifications to enhance workplace safety.
  18. Serves as a key advisor to senior leadership on EHS-related risks, solutions, and best practices.
  19. Fosters a culture of safety excellence by driving employee engagement and accountability in EHS initiatives.
  20. Continuously assesses and improves safety programs to reduce injuries and enhance overall safety performance.

Supervisory Responsibility:

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities but does serve as a coach and mentor for other positions in the department.


Work Environment:

  1. This job operates in a professional office environment and a manufacturing warehouse environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
  2. Must be 18 years or older.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position. The days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.


Travel:

Little to no travel is expected for this position.


Required Education and Experience:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field. 
  2. Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in Environmental Health & Safety, preferably in the automotive industry.
  3. Minimum of 1 year EHS manager experience, preferably in the automotive industry.
