Job Summary & Essential Functions
Responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining a comprehensive safety and health program. This role ensures compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements, reduces workplace risk, promotes a strong safety culture, and supports operational excellence within an EMS manufacturing environment.
- Develop, implement, and standardize safety policies, procedures, and programs across all facilities
- Promote a proactive safety culture through leadership engagement, employee involvement, and continuous improvement
- Serve as the subject matter expert for workplace safety and regulatory compliance
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, local/state regulations, and customer safety requirements
- Lead OSHA inspections, regulatory audits, and customer EHS audits
- Maintain required records (OSHA 300 logs, incident reports, training documentation)
- Conduct job hazard analyses (JHAs), risk assessments, and ergonomic evaluations
- Identify trends in incidents and near-misses; develop corrective and preventive actions
- Lead incident investigations and root cause analysis
- Develop and deliver safety training programs (new hire, refresher, specialized training)
- Ensure contractor and visitor safety requirements are met
- Communicate safety performance, expectations, and improvements to all levels of the organization
- Standardize safety practices while accommodating site-specific needs
- Travel regularly to facilities to conduct audits, inspections, and coaching
- Support site leadership in meeting safety objectives
- Track and report safety KPIs (TRIR, DART, near-miss reporting, training completion)
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce injuries and improve compliance
- Implement and manage all machine and power tool safety programs
- Lead Safety Committee and Emergency Evacuation Team
- Participate and drive 6S initiatives, with a focus on Safety
- Manage Forklift and MEWP Training and safety programs
- Function as liaison with RIDC Safety Committee; attend all meetings and enforce requirements
- Adhere to General Requirements of Team Members
Environmental
- Develop, implement, and maintain environmental management programs in compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations (EPA, state agencies, local authorities).
- Ensure compliance with air emissions, wastewater discharge, stormwater, and hazardous waste regulations applicable to electronics manufacturing operations.
- Oversee hazardous and non-hazardous waste management programs, including proper classification, storage, labeling, manifesting, and disposal.
- Manage chemical inventory and approval processes, including SDS management, chemical compatibility, and safe storage requirements.
- Ensure compliance with environmental permitting requirements and conditions (air permits, wastewater permits, stormwater permits).
- Lead environmental audits, inspections, and assessments
- Track findings and corrective actions to closure.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies during environmental inspections and inquiries.
- Maintain required environmental records and reports (Tier II, TRI, hazardous waste manifests, emissions reports, wastewater monitoring data).
- Support spill prevention, control, and countermeasure (SPCC) plans and emergency response procedures.
- Lead incident response and investigation for environmental releases, spills, or non-compliance events.
- Partner with operations and engineering teams to ensure environmental considerations are integrated into new processes, equipment installations, and facility expansions.
- Drive pollution prevention and waste reduction initiatives, including recycling and sustainability programs.
- Support customer environmental requirements, including RBA, ESG, and customer-specific EHS standards.
- Monitor and communicate changes in environmental regulations and assess impacts across all sites.
- Provide environmental training to employees, contractors, and site leadership as required.
- Track and report environmental KPIs (waste generation, recycling rates, chemical usage, compliance metrics).
- Support ISO 14001 or integrated management system requirements, including documentation, internal audits, and management reviews.
- Coordinate with external consultants, laboratories, and waste vendors to ensure compliance and continuous improvement.
- Support corporate sustainability and ESG reporting initiatives as required.

- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and manufacturing safety standards

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Comfortable working in fast-paced, high-mix manufacturing environments
- Strong planning and organizational skills including the ability to initiate, prioritize, and allocate resources
Required Experience & Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Engineering, or related field (preferred)
- 3+ years of safety experience in a manufacturing environment required
- Experience in electronics manufacturing or EMS industry strongly preferred
- Multi-site safety management experience preferred
- CSP (Certified Safety Professional), ASP, CIH, or equivalent safety certification a plus
