What you will do

Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this vital role you will lead all aspects, regarding the development, implementation, and ongoing support of all elements, modules, systems, and training for the Amgen Contractor Safety Program at assigned work location.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor safety compliance of contractors and subcontractors.
  • Ensure Contractor/Subcontractor Orientation & Training is provided for all staff
  • Implement changes when necessary to refocus safety efforts as determined by safety metrics.
  • Facilitate safety performance reviews, inspections, and audits as required.
  • Review of contractor project specific safety plans.
  • Participate in incident investigations, report the RCA, and the lessons learned.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA safety regulations, Amgen requirements and documentation of non-conformance.
  • Compile and report safety statistics as required to the Amgen management.
  • Review documentation of STA's and JHA's.
  • Manage prequalification of contractor(s)/subcontractor(s).
  • Monitor and prioritize safety agenda from safety schedule and project load.
  • Communicate to management on project safety.
  • Frequent contacts and communication with Amgen personnel and outside contractor(s) and subcontractor(s) at various management levels concerning construction safety compliance, operations or scheduling of specific phases of project safety.
  • Travel within US approximately 25 %

Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree and 2 years of Environment, Health, Safety, Construction Management, or Engineering experience

Or

Master’s degree and 4 years of Environment, Health, Safety, Construction Management, or Engineering experience

Or

Bachelor’s degree and 6 years of Environment, Health, Safety, Construction Management, or Engineering experience

Or

Associate’s degree and 10 years of Environment, Health, Safety, Construction Management, or Engineering experience

Or

High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Environment, Health, Safety, Construction Management, or Engineering experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Environment, Health, Safety, Construction Management, or Engineering disciplines
  • Experience managing construction safety in the pharmaceutical industry
  • Bilingual (Spanish) both verbally and in written form
  • Certification in CSP, CIH, OHST, or CHST
  • 7 -15 years’ experience in construction safety on large capital projects
  • Knowledge and understanding of the application of OSHA Safety regulations, use, and application of construction and general industry safety technical standards, principles, and techniques.
  • Ability to solve problems and provide solutions to a variety of complex safety problems.
  • Independently determine and develop approach to solutions.
  • Able to effectively communicate with all levels of organization in verbal and written format from works to leadership

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
