POSITION SUMMARY
The EHS Commissioning Manager provides field-based EHS leadership across Vertiv's commissioning, startup, energization, testing, and turnover activities for mission-critical infrastructure projects. This role partners with project leadership, customers, contractors, commissioning agents, and field personnel to drive a proactive safety culture, ensure regulatory compliance, and implement effective risk-reduction strategies.
The ideal candidate brings deep knowledge of electrical and operational safety principles and can influence safe work practices in complex, fast-paced environments. This role may lead project safety programs, mentor safety personnel, and serve as the primary safety liaison for key stakeholders.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Field Safety Leadership - You own the safety presence on site. That means conducting inspections, audits, and risk assessments across commissioning, startup, energization, testing, and turnover activities. You'll identify hazards and at risk behaviors, develop and execute JHAs and risk mitigation plans, and drive corrective actions when things aren't right. You're also the one delivering safety orientations, toolbox talks, and training to field crews and contractors.
Electrical Safety & Energization Oversight - A major piece of this role is electrical safety. You'll oversee programs tied to NFPA 70E, LOTO, energized work planning, arc flash risk mitigation, and electrical safe work practices. During system energization, integrated systems testing, and operational turnover, you're the one making sure critical risk controls are in place and functioning.
Incident Management & Compliance - You lead incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action development. You monitor compliance with OSHA and applicable federal, state, and local regulations, maintain safety documentation and performance records, and drive SIF prevention through field engagement, critical control verification, and leading indicator analysis.
Contractor & Stakeholder Engagement - You evaluate contractor safety programs and provide oversight on high risk activities: energized electrical work, crane and rigging, confined space, work at heights, hot work, and critical lifts. You participate in commissioning readiness reviews, pre energization reviews, and customer safety audits, and you partner with customers, GCs, commissioning agents, and subs to keep everyone aligned on safety expectations.
