The EHS and Security Manager is responsible for all aspects of EHS and Security functions. This position will lead cross-site teams/ initiatives and will be responsible for cost, method, and organizational results. This role must also interface with key cross-functional and operational groups within Materion to ensure the successful development and execution of strategies. Position requires the ability to partner with and influence senior business leaders and hourly employees. Candidates must be able to positively represent EHS & Security to internal and external stakeholders. The candidate must have proven leadership and management skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills and a demonstrated ability to lead and contribute in a team-based work environment is required.

EH&S

The Environmental, Health, and Safety Supervisor will plan, administer, and supervise an ongoing environmental, safety, and health program in accordance with the Occupational Safety and Health Act, EPA requirements, and applicable Federal, State, and Local regulations as well as Materion’s EHS systems, processes, and programs. The position directs the organization's EHS efforts to protect employees and the Company against harm, to maintain safe working conditions and reduce our environmental footprint; formulates and implements work standards and enforces procedures; identifies risk prevention areas including hazardous materials exposure, accidents, fires, or other unsafe conditions; ensures compliance and reporting requirements of all applicable federal or state regulations; supports public relations initiatives and outreach efforts; supports local EHS staff to help ensure achievement of their objectives; and advises management on EHS concerns and problem corrections.

Lead and oversee Environmental, Safety, Industrial Hygiene, and Occupational Health programs. This position will be directly responsible for providing leadership, direction, and support to Westford in Environmental, Safety, Industrial Hygiene and Occupational Health arenas.

Security

The Security is responsible for the effective management of the day-to-day operations of the Security department and ensures the safety and security of people, valuable materials, and classified documents about the Westford, MA and Tyngsboro, MA facilities. Manage the development and execution of all security procedures and protocols. Supervise and assist in the day-to-day operation of alarms, badging, and access control equipment. This will include coordinating service with vendors for equipment that is not functioning according to design or is out of service.

Coordinate the daily Security activities and other operations pertaining to security. Ensure incident reports are managed in accordance with company requirements and escalate as required. Work with Site Leader to identify and analyze risks associated with operations.

You will have the opportunity to:

  • Partner facility leadership in the execution of EHS performance improvement plans

  • Design, practice and ensure compliance with safety policies to comply with local, state, and federal health and safety regulations. Formulate, document and maintain site specific general safety, health policies. Implement corporate H&S policies and procedures

  • Lead investigations of all serious incidents and injuries making recommendations for corrective action to management

  • Maintain an on-going incident prevention management system. Inspect and tour facility to detect existing or potential physical and health hazards and recommend corrective or preventative action

  • Manage the Facility Fire/ Life Safety Systems to include Fire Protection Equipment and the Facility Alarm System

  • Uses web-based systems to organize and oversee the execution all necessary employee EHS training

  • Conduct risk assessments of potentially hazardous tasks or conditions and design interventions before injuries occur

  • Conduct job safety assessments and observations to determine personal protective equipment requirements

  • Manage the site Radiation Safety program

  • Ensure compliance of safety policies to comply with local, state, and federal environmental regulations. Formulate, document and maintain general environmental policies

  • Oversee and audit compliance with hazardous and universal waste requirements, air and water permit compliance, storm water contamination prevention and relevant Department of Homeland Security requirements

  • Develop and maintain positive relations with company personnel, neighbors, local regulators, customers, law enforcement, and emergency response agencies

  • Assist with maintaining the Site Preparedness and Emergency Plans & Procedures

  • Develop budgets and manage activities to accomplish financial objectives. This will include continuous improvement measures that will increase overall productivity within the organization, while reducing costs

  • Support our continuous improvement culture for EHS & Security.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Required: BS in an EHS field and 1-3 years of experience or a MS degree and 0-1 years of experience

  • Preferred: A MS degree in a relevant EHS field

  • Years of Experience: 1+ for MS and 2+ with a BS

  • Required: Experience designing and implementing compliance strategies with OSHA and EPA regulations. Relevant OSHA regulations include the beryllium standard, radiation safety, confined space entry, lockout/tagout, machine guarding, mobile equipment, personal protective equipment, and material/chemical handling. Relevant EPA regulations include: Air and water permitting and compliance assurance, environmental reporting for air, water, hazardous, and solid waste

  • Preferred: 5-10 + years of experience designing and implementing compliance strategies with OSHA and EPA regulations. 40 HR HAZWOPER, Experience working with High Hazard Chemicals, Emergency Response Teams, Remediation

  • Management of security operations

  • Required: Compliance knowledge of the following OSHA regulations: beryllium standard, radiation safety, confined space entry, lockout/tagout, machine guarding, mobile equipment, personal protective equipment, and material handling. Relevant EPA regulations include Air and water permitting and compliance assurance, environmental reporting for air, water, hazardous, and solid waste. Data collection and analysis for Materion’s Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) process

  • Works under supervision to develop written instructions for technicians to comply with local and corporate EHS policies and procedures

  • Participates and monitors compliance with local, state, and federal programs

  • Makes recommendations to improve the work environment based on interpretations and professional practices

  • Uses complicated environmental and industrial hygiene equipment

  • Proficient in data verification, correlation, and preparation of EHS reports

  • Performs calculations, data entry, data analysis, field monitoring, and report writing

  • Acts as a technical advisor for small projects

  • Develops and conducts EHS training

  • Preferred: All of the above plus management systems (ISO 45000/14001) experience.

  • Ability to implement and manage site security requirements.

Salary range: $130,000-$150,000*
*The salary range listed is a guide for this position and may vary depending on experience, education, geographic location, and other qualifications. The final offer will be determined based on the candidate's individual merits and the company's compensation policies.


The selection of the person to be hired for this position is contingent on the candidate having export compliance eligibility for access to U.S. controlled technology which comes under the licensing jurisdiction of the U.S. Department of State, International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the U.S. Department of Commerce, Export Administration Regulations (EAR).
