Description

JOB SUMMARY:

Sets up, runs, and maintains EDM drill, RAM EDM, and wire EDM machines. Builds new dies, gages, fixtures, tooling, etc. for basic jobs using tool room equipment such as manual lathes, manual mills, drills, surface grinders, EDMs, and measuring equipment utilizing cost effective measures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Builds new dies, gages, fixtures, machines, tooling etc. for basic jobs using cost effective methods.

  • Reviews Engineering sketches and documentation as needed.

  • Operates all tool room equipment such as EDMs, manual lathes, manual mills, surface grinders, drill presses and various hand tools according to proper operating procedures.

  • Performs assembly operations necessary to complete work.

  • Repairs and/or cleans dies, tooling, fixtures and gages as required to maximize machine up time throughout the company.

  • Coordinates with Supervisor and Engineering Department to complete activities.

  • Sharpens and grinds tooling as needed.

  • Demonstrates thorough knowledge of and conformity to Ace Precision Quality System Work Instruction requirements that govern tool room operations.

  • Maintains or exceeds production standards through organization, planning and quality workmanship.

  • Follows and complies with safety rules, regulations, and work instructions.

  • Accurately completes all required documentation.

  • Meets attendance policy requirements.

  • Contributes to team effort by assisting in areas as needed.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Associate’s degree or equivalent from a two year college with courses in mechanical drawing, EDM set-up/operation, tool and die, shop mathematics and machining processes; one year of mechanical trades training to become familiar with specific tool and die fixture building requirements; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, in English, analyze, and interpret documents such as specifications, computer programs, set-up sheets, routings, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to communicate effectively with other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to apply shop mathematics, interpret basic drawings, specifications, and formulas, and use a wide variety of precision measuring instruments together with a knowledge of application techniques.

REASONING ABILITY:
Requires ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with abstract and concrete variables. Requires initiative and decision making judgment to plan, layout, and perform work.
