Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced EDM Operator to join one of our precision manufacturing clients in the Roseville area. This role is responsible for setting up and operating Wire EDM and/or Sinker EDM equipment to manufacture high-precision tooling, molds, dies, fixtures, and production components.

The ideal candidate has experience working in a Tool & Die or precision machining environment, can read blueprints and GD&T, and is committed to producing quality parts that meet tight tolerances.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate Wire EDM and/or Sinker EDM machines.
• Load and secure workpieces using proper workholding methods.
• Install electrodes, wire, fixtures, and tooling.
• Monitor machining operations and make necessary machine adjustments.
• Produce precision tooling, mold components, die components, fixtures, and production parts.
• Maintain close tolerances and required surface finishes.
• Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD&T.
• Inspect finished components using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, indicators, optical comparators, and other precision measuring equipment.
• Document inspection results and production information.
• Troubleshoot machining issues and support continuous process improvements.
• Perform routine machine maintenance and maintain consumables including wire, filters, and dielectric fluid systems.
• Work closely with engineering, quality, toolmakers, and CNC programmers to meet production schedules.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of experience operating Wire EDM and/or Sinker EDM equipment.
• Experience manufacturing precision tooling, molds, dies, fixtures, or machined components.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD&T.
• Strong understanding of precision machining, machine setup, workholding, and close-tolerance manufacturing.
• Experience using precision measuring equipment.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Mitsubishi, Makino, Sodick, Charmilles, or Fanuc EDM machines.
• Background in Tool & Die, mold manufacturing, automotive, aerospace, or medical manufacturing.
• CNC machining experience.
• Ability to make minor program offsets and machine adjustments.
• Familiarity with CAD/CAM-generated EDM programs.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Frequently lift materials up to 40 pounds; occasionally up to 50 pounds.
• Frequent bending, reaching, and handling of precision components.
• Ability to safely operate overhead cranes and other material handling equipment when required.
