Position Overview
The Electrical Design Engineer will be responsible for the development, application, and integration of vehicle electronic control units (ECUs) and smart security systems. This role focuses on delivering innovative, cost-effective, and regulatory-compliant electrical solutions that meet customer expectations while supporting vehicle performance, functionality, and quality objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Vehicle Electronics Development
Lead the design, development, and vehicle integration of Functional ECUs, including:- Power Sliding Door ECU
- Power Tailgate ECU
- Seat Control ECU
- Power Window ECU
- Sunroof ECU
- Other body electronics control modules
Support the development and integration of Smart Security systems, including:- Smart ECUs
- Immobilizer systems
- Antennas
- Keyless entry and related security components
Design & Engineering Activities
- Define system requirements, performance targets, and technical specifications for vehicle electronic systems.
- Develop ECU packaging concepts and assess styling, installation, and feasibility requirements to ensure optimal system integration.
- Balance customer requirements, product performance, manufacturing feasibility, and cost targets while maintaining compliance with industry regulations and standards.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful implementation of vehicle electrical and electronic systems throughout the product development lifecycle.
Supplier & Documentation Management
Prepare and release technical specifications to suppliers and manage supplier performance, quality, and project timelines.
Monitor supplier deliverables and support issue resolution to ensure program milestones are achieved.
Maintain engineering documentation, including:- Parts lists (BOM)
- Engineering change requests and instructions
- Wiring specifications
- Design release documentation
Support design reviews, validation activities, and engineering change management processes.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or an equivalent engineering discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as an Electrical Design Engineer or in a related engineering role.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and suppliers.
- Willingness and flexibility to work overtime as required (up to 30%).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in automotive electronics or vehicle electrical system development.
- Knowledge of ECU development, integration, and validation processes.
- Experience working with smart security, immobilizer, or keyless entry systems.
- Proficiency in CATIA or similar CAD design tools.
- Familiarity with automotive product development processes, engineering change management, and supplier coordination.
