Based out of Hawaii, you’ll have the opportunity to work as part of multi-disciplinary project teams associated with our Western Canada Offices to contribute to government and privately-owned infrastructure projects with significant field programs. Your location is Hawaii is attractive because when our field crews end their workday and a variety of tasks need to be completed, it is still normal business hours in Hawaii. 

This will be a temporary 12 month position with expected full-time or near full-time hours. There is an opportunity for contract extension. The position does not require you to work in a Jacobs office.  

You will review aquatic data collection efforts and provide technical support for the duration of construction. You may also assist with the development of methodology, technical reports, and regulatory applications as needed. This is a science-based role, and the effective candidate will be considered a technical expert and demonstrate their ability to defend the technical rigor of their work.

Here is What You’ll Need:

• Bachelor’s degree in Aquatic Biology, Fisheries Biology, Biology, Ecology, Environmental Science, etc. with a focus on fish or aquatic-related studies
• Experience conducting or managing aquatic studies such as fish and fish habitat assessments, water quality monitoring, and fish sampling
• Experience with digital data collection, webmaps and/or Esri products
• Minimum of 1-2 years of relevant experience  
• Technical writing skill and experience providing technical review and edits as needed
• Strong communicator, with initiative, who is comfortable working with remote teams (majority of the team will be based in Western Canada)
• Positive attitude and self-motivated
• Strong organizational skills with ability to simultaneously work on multiple tasks/projects and meet project deadline
• Data organization skills
• Accurate record keeping and strong time management skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills, team-oriented, and suited to work as part of fast-paced, dynamic multi-disciplinary team
• High attention to detail and strong desire to provide high quality deliverables

Ideally, You’ll Also Have:

• Previous experience in environmental consulting, oil and gas, or water quality monitoring 
• Previous experience overseeing environmental field work, directing and/or managing field crews in remote settings from the office
