Blue Chip Talent, in partnership with an automotive engineering organization, is seeking a skilled Dyno Technician. This role is responsible for operating and maintaining dynamometer test systems, supporting development and validation testing of electrified powertrain systems, and partnering with engineering teams to ensure accurate, high-quality test execution.
Job Duties
- Operate and maintain large dynamometer systems for vehicle and powertrain testing
- Install and configure instrumentation including thermocouples, RTDs, strain gauges, accelerometers, pressure sensors, hygrometers, and voltage sensing equipment
- Build, configure, and maintain mechanical and electrical test rigs for powertrain validation
- Support Powertrain, NVH, and Thermal Engineering teams with test setup and execution
- Perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and mechanical or electrical repairs on test equipment
- Diagnose and resolve first-level faults affecting test systems and prototype vehicles
- Assist with validation test plans, equipment upgrades, and system modifications
- Generate and maintain documentation for test procedures, equipment, and test rigs
- Participate in laboratory safety initiatives, risk assessments, and Environmental Health & Safety activities
- Recommend and implement improvements to testing processes, workshop standards, and equipment reliability
Skills & Experience
Required
- 7+ years of hands-on experience operating and maintaining test cells and/or large dynamometer systems
- 2+ years of experience supporting electrified vehicle or electrified powertrain testing
- Experience installing and configuring instrumentation including thermocouples, RTDs, strain gauges, accelerometers, pressure gauges, hygrometers, and flow meters
- Experience with powertrain test setup, validation testing, and test error-proofing practices
- Knowledge of electric motors, inverters, gearboxes, and electrified propulsion systems
- Knowledge of thermal systems including coolant and refrigerant circuits
- Understanding of electric vehicle safety practices and laboratory safety procedures
- Experience using automotive diagnostic tools, scan tools, and common electrical and mechanical test equipment
- High school diploma, technical certification, or equivalent combination of education and applicable experience
Desired
- Experience supporting prototype vehicle development and validation
- Experience diagnosing electrical, mechanical, and software-related issues on powertrain systems
- Experience designing or fabricating mechanical tooling and test fixtures
- Familiarity with NVH or thermal testing environments
- Experience supporting test equipment upgrades and laboratory improvements
- Experience creating process documentation and standardized work instructions
