Job Summary

The DSD Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for supervising and coordinating activities of workers engaged in verifying and keeping records on incoming and outgoing shipments, preparing items for receipt, shipment and storage.

Essential Job Duties

  • Studies shipping notices, bills of lading, invoices, orders and other records to determine shipping priorities, work assignments, and shipping methods required to meet shipping and receiving schedules.
  • Oversees incoming and outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments.
  • Determines space requirements and position of shipment in trucks and lays out position of shipment.
  • Inspects loading and unloading operations to ensure compliance with shipping specifications.
  • Inspects material handling equipment for defects and notifies appropriate personnel for repair.
  • Directs movement of shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage and work areas.
  • Issues written and oral instructions.
  • Studies and standardizes procedures to improve efficiency of subordinates.
  • Maintains harmony among workers and resolves grievances.
  • Prepares composite reports from individual reports of subordinates.
  • Adjusts errors and complaints.
  • Participates in inventory record accuracy program.
  • Maintains area in accordance with all internal and external regulatory guidelines, i.e., OSHA, FDA, PDA, DOT, etc.
  • Responsible for meeting respective shift(s) goals for five (5) areas of accountability: safety, quality, cost, customer service, and people development.
  • May perform other duties as required.

Scope of Responsibility

Directly supervises 2 or more employees in the Warehouse Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

Directly supervises respective shift(s) of employees in the Warehouse Department. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Education and Experience

Associate's Degree; a minimum of 1 year of applicable experience; or equivalent combination of education or experience is required. Previous experience in a lead or supervisory role preferred.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk or hear, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stoop or kneel. The employee must be able to sit most of the day, typing and using the phone.

Work Environment

Office environment; noise level is usually moderate.

Travel Required

Minimal travel may be required.

Compensation and Benefits:

The target base salary range for this full-time, salaried position is between

$55,200-$79,400

Individual base pay depends on work location and additional factors such as experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training. Total pay may include other forms of compensation. In addition, we offer competitive health, dental, 401k and wellness benefits beginning on the first day of employment.
