Position Summary
Operate electric power-driven dragline with dragline bucket to excavate or move sand, gravel, mud, or other materials. The Dragline Operator will manage the dragline excavator and assist in maintenance and service of the machine. This will include daily inspection and documentation of the dragline operation and working conditions. He may also be asked to safely operate other plant heavy equipment to facilitate the set-up and operation of the dragline.
New Hire Orientation & Safety Training Requirement
All newly hired employees are required to attend New Hire Orientation and Safety Training in person at our Corporate Office located in Dallas, Texas. Attendance is mandatory and is a condition of employment.
To support employees traveling to attend training, mileage and approved travel expenses will be reimbursed for individuals whose commute to the Dallas Corporate Office exceeds 50 miles, in accordance with company travel and reimbursement policies. Additional details regarding travel arrangements and reimbursement procedures will be provided prior to the training date.
Essential Responsibilities
- Using established procedures, performs dragline / excavating / dredge operations duties as directed
- Starts, monitors and regulates dragline / excavating / dredge equipment within the company guidelines and safety standards
- Uses standard operating procedures to troubleshoot malfunctions or issues
- Under direct supervision, adjusts equipment to maximize production
- In addition to the primary responsibilities outlined, the successful candidate may be expected to take on other tasks and assignments as required, including but not limited to duties outside the typical scope of the role to support overall team operations and organizational needs. Flexibility and adaptability to evolving job demands are essential
- Perform pre-shift safety inspection on the vehicle systems, equipment and accessories.
- Perform preventative maintenance and service mobile equipment.
- Report needed repairs to supervision.
- Ensure cargo is properly loaded according to safety requirements.
- Responsible for good housekeeping of equipment.
- Assist in plant maintenance and repairs,
- Assist with operation of other equipment as needed.
- Adhere to MSHA/OSHA and plant safety rules, policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Perform duties with minimum supervision.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma, GED or equivalent experience
- Working knowledge of heavy construction or heavy equipment experience
- 1+ years of electric powered dragline operation experience, or related experience
- Experience with a variety of hand tools
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Must be able to work 10-12 hour shifts, possible weekends, overtime, and holidays as needed.
- Must be able to read equipment operating manual.
- Must be able to complete pre-shift inspection report.
- Must be able to communicate over CB radio or with hand signals and warning sounds, with coworkers regarding movement of vehicles and mobile equipment.
- Possess basic mathematical aptitude to complete daily reports.
- Must be able to wear all required safety equipment.
- Must be able to perform duties in a safe manner.
- Must be able to read and interpret gauges.
- Must be service oriented with proven ability to work in a TEAM environment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must have good hand/eye coordination and be able to operate hand/foot controls
- Possess good vision to perceive depth at close range and distances up to 150 feet
- Must be able to climb on and off equipment to operate and service
- Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, crouch, kneel in limited space in cab of vehicle
- Must be able to sit and operate equipment for long periods up to 10+ hours per day
- Capable of lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs
- Must work outside in all weather conditions consistent with extreme ambient temperatures: heat, cold, wetness, dryness, dust, and noisy conditions
- Must be able to work at various heights
WORKING CONDITIONS
Larger equipment is typically air conditioned. There will be times when outside assignments may require periods of work in all weather conditions-heat, cold, wet or dry and dusty. Must be able to work in areas where noise levels are up to 85 dbs.
