About the Role:

Under the direction of the Design Manager, the Drafting Supervisor plays a critical leadership role in overseeing the drafting team to ensure the accurate and timely production of technical drawings and plans. This position is responsible for coordinating drafting activities, maintaining quality standards, and facilitating communication between engineers, and project managers. The supervisor will lead the development and implementation of drafting procedures and best practices to optimize workflow efficiency and compliance with industry standards. Additionally, the role involves mentoring and training drafting staff to enhance their technical skills and professional growth. Ultimately, the Drafting Supervisor ensures that all deliverables meet project specifications and contribute to the successful completion of engineering  projects.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and supervise the daily activities of the drafting team to meet project deadlines and quality requirements.
  • Review and approve technical drawings and plans for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with relevant codes and standards.
  • Collaborate with engineers and project managers to clarify design requirements and resolve technical issues.
  • Enforce drafting standards, procedures, and best practices to improve team productivity and output quality.
  • Provide training, guidance, and performance evaluations to drafting staff to support their professional development.
  • Coordinate resource allocation and workload distribution among team members to optimize efficiency.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, software tools, and regulatory requirements affecting drafting work.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associates degree in Engineering, Architecture, Drafting Technology, or a related field; BA degree preferred. 
  • Minimum of 5 years of total experience in technical drafting with at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead role.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard CAD software such as AutoCAD; TEKLA preferred.
  • Strong understanding of engineering and/or architectural drawing standards and conventions.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills to effectively manage a diverse team.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with project management software and methodologies.
  • Knowledge of relevant codes and regulations specific to the industry sector (e.g., construction, civil engineering).
  • Demonstrated ability to implement process improvements and quality control measures.
