Docketing Clerk

Summary

The Docketing Clerk – Patents will support patent work for a publicly-traded company with global activities across various time zones and cultures. The ideal candidate will be proactive, efficient, highly organized, discreet, and very comfortable multi-tasking and juggling multiple priorities.

What you'll do

  • Maintains the docketing database and calendar for patents
  • Maintains current deadlines in accordance with correspondence received and current legal requirements
  • Tracks filing and litigation deadlines, confirms filing, and generates a variety of reports
  • Review pleadings and filings
  • Prepares and sends patent reporting correspondence
  • Prepares legal documents as needed
  • Performs internal docket audits as needed
  • Maintains and organizes files and databases
  • Conducts patent database research for due diligence purposes
  • Assists internal attorneys and paralegals on various projects as required
  • Performs administrative tasks for the IP Team as required
  • Communicates with clients, team and staff to ensure quality of service
  • Maintains substantive understanding of priorities and initiatives to help prioritize, manage and follow through on projects to bring them to completion
  • Generates status reports regarding patent filing and prosecution

What we're looking for

  • Minimum 3 years’ prior experience
  • Minimum working knowledge of both CPI and Anaqua, Prefer detailed experience with this software
  • Experience in a corporate legal environment preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred
  • Experience with CPI preferred
  • Self-motivated and efficient, with good business judgment
  • Effective communication and analytical skills, both oral and written including high degree of skill in grammar, spelling and punctuation are essential
  • Ability to efficiently manage large workload and react promptly to multiple deadlines while meeting personal and team key performance objectives
  • Ability to work independently
  • Must maintain a professional demeanor
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Detail oriented and organized
  • Basic Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, DocuSign, and Adobe Professional skills
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, fast paced environment and adapt quickly to changing priorities
  • Must be able to work with highly confidential and sensitive documents and information and maintain such confidentiality to protect the organization
