Role Overview:

Hearst Technology Services is seeking a strategic, technically skilled leader to oversee the optimization of technology services across the enterprise. This position is ideal for someone with a strong technical background — particularly with Network, Identity or Cloud Engineering— who is ready to step into a senior leadership role where they can apply technical expertise, automation, and data-driven decision-making to deliver measurable business results.

You will manage a capable team responsible for software and hardware lifecycle management reporting, while focusing on modernizing the practice through integrations, automated workflows, and improved asset data accuracy. This is a career move for someone who enjoys architecting solutions and driving transformation, rather than maintaining the status quo.

Key Responsibilities:

Service Optimization & Automation

  • Lead the strategy and execution of enterprise-wide technology service optimization, including full lifecycle oversight of software and hardware.
  • Architect integrations between identity management, IT service systems, and business applications to automate provisioning, deprovisioning, and license reclamation.
  • Design and implement automated workflows that reduce manual effort, eliminate waste, and improve service quality.

Identity-Driven Integrations

  • Leverage identity and agent-based platforms to enable reclaiming and redeploying unused or underutilized licenses and assets.
  • Collaborate with identity and engineering teams to connect disparate systems via APIs, scripting, and automation tools for end-to-end efficiency.
  • Align IT governance with compliance and security compliance.

Data Quality & Insight

  • Direct initiatives to clean and maintain accurate asset data across systems through automated validation and reconciliation.
  • Deliver actionable reporting and dashboards that highlight license utilization, hardware inventory, and compliance status.

Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Lead and develop a small skilled team responsible for operational execution.
  • Build strong cross-functional relationships with technology, security, finance, vendor management, and business leaders to ensure goals are aligned.
  • Serve as a thought leader on integrating, reclamation, automation, and lifecycle management into a cohesive strategy.

Required Qualifications:

  • 8+ years in IT, with experience in identity management, cloud engineering or network engineering.
  • Hands-on expertise with SailPoint  (architect-level understanding strongly preferred) or Meraki, Palo Alto, Silverpeak technologies
  • Proven ability to design and implement automated workflows using APIs, scripting, or low-code tools.
  • Broad understanding of software licensing models, hardware lifecycle management, and compliance frameworks.
  • Experience leading teams and driving cross-functional initiatives.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated success in license reclamation and optimization programs.

This position is based in Charlotte, NC with a minimum of three (3) days per week in the office.
