Applied Composites (AC) is seeking a Director of Supply Chain to lead all supply chain functions in support of our aerospace composites manufacturing operations. This role is responsible for the strategic and operational oversight of procurement, production planning, inventory control, logistics, and supplier management to ensure uninterrupted material flow in a high-mix, program-driven environment.
Position Summary
The Director of Supply Chain will lead and oversee end-to-end supply chain operations within a high-mix, regulated aerospace composites manufacturing environment, ensuring seamless coordination across procurement, production planning, logistics, inventory management, and distribution.
This role is critical in driving operational excellence while supporting aerospace and defense customer requirements, including program execution, regulatory compliance, and on-time delivery performance. The Director will develop and implement strategic supply chain initiatives that optimize working capital, reduce total landed cost, strengthen supplier performance, and enhance supply chain resilience.
In a dynamic, customer-driven aerospace environment, this leader will collaborate cross-functionally with Operations, Engineering, Quality, Finance, and Program Management teams to ensure material availability aligns with production schedules and contractual commitments.
Ultimately, this position is responsible for building a scalable, compliant, and high-performing supply chain organization that supports growth, operational stability, and competitive advantage in the aerospace composites industry.
Job Accountabilities
- Develop and execute comprehensive supply chain strategies aligned with aerospace program requirements, revenue growth objectives, and operational targets.
- Lead procurement, planning, logistics, and inventory management functions to ensure material readiness for composite manufacturing operations.
- Oversee MRP and demand planning processes within Epicor ERP, ensuring system accuracy, data integrity, and alignment with production schedules.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on inventory turns, supplier on-time delivery, cost reduction, and working capital optimization.
- Establish and manage strategic supplier partnerships, including performance scorecards, risk mitigation plans, and long-term agreements.
- Collaborate with Quality and Engineering teams to support material qualification, supplier audits, and regulatory compliance.
- Develop risk mitigation strategies for raw material shortages, long lead-time aerospace materials, and supply disruptions.
- Ensure compliance with aerospace regulatory standards, export controls, and company policies.
- Lead supply chain transformation initiatives, including digital tools, automation, and data analytics to enhance visibility and decision-making.
- Build and mentor a high-performing supply chain organization that supports operational excellence and succession planning.
Job Specifications
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 10–15 years of progressive supply chain leadership experience within aerospace, defense, or advanced composites manufacturing environments.
- Demonstrated experience managing supply chain operations supporting aerospace programs, including raw materials (prepreg, resins, core materials), hardware, and complex engineered components.
- Proven leadership experience managing cross-functional teams and complex, multi-site supply chain operations.
- Strong knowledge of aerospace regulatory and compliance requirements, including AS9100, ITAR, DFARS, and customer-specific flow-down requirements.
- Hands-on experience with ERP systems, including Epicor ERP, with strong understanding of MRP, demand planning, inventory controls, BOM structures, and system optimization.
- Advanced analytical capabilities and experience using ERP data and reporting tools to drive performance improvements.
