The Walmart Business team is a newly created group designed to leverage existing Walmart assets, build new capabilities, and lay the groundwork for a sizeable new business. The organization is currently seeking a Director, Specialty Compliance and Ethics for Walmart Business to focus on the design, development, strategy, implementation, and maintenance of a public sector procurement compliance program for the Walmart Business team and other contractual procurement opportunities.

This role is a critical thought-leadership role that will sit with the business as the compliance lead for public sector procurement and main point of contact for the Walmart US Ethics & Compliance team. This role will help to develop strategy and policies, design and implement standards, controls, monitoring and further enhance training and awareness for public sector procurement within the Walmart Business team. Highly visible, the person who fulfills this role will lead with an entrepreneurial mindset and an ability to operationalize strategy and implement risk mitigation solutions with speed at scale.

As a Director, Specialty Compliance and Ethics for Walmart Business, you will support the development, implementation, and maturation of the new business development omnichannel public sector procurement compliance program.

You will collaborate with applicable stakeholders to launch new and enhanced processes, mature existing programs, and ensure appropriate standards and controls are documented and monitored. You will also be responsible for identifying, monitoring, and reporting risks associated with new business initiatives (i.e., emerging risks, trends, current risks, etc.).

As a compliance leader, reporting to the Senior Director of Walmart Business Compliance, you will:

  • Form strong partnerships with the Walmart Business team(s), legal, and tech teams.
  • Serve as the compliance lead to support the development, implementation, and maturation of the compliance program focused on public sector procurement, including best practices and initiatives to mitigate risk and enable business functions.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders, including business leaders, product, engineering, legal, government affairs, corporate affairs, and other teams to ensure that compliance processes for various functions address legal and compliance requirements.
  • Lead strategic cross-functional initiatives (including coordination with various subject matter experts in legal and compliance) to ensure regulatory compliance, mitigate risk, and enhance current compliance strategies and processes; and
  • Develop decision-making frameworks, perform, and oversee industry and market analysis, and communicate progress and measures of success to senior leadership and key internal stakeholders.

What you’ll bring….

  • Experience with Mergers and Acquisitions and/or new business development
  • Experience in Legal or Regulatory Compliance teams
  • Experience implementing legal and compliance controls (including technology) to enforce regulations and other legal requirements.
  • Experience working with, and knowledge of, eCommerce legal and compliance matters, including experience with US consumer protection, product safety and related laws and regulations.
  • Experience working with various regulatory agencies such as FTC, EPA, ATF, FCC, etc.
  • Motivated self-starter, who can operate in a complex collaborative corporate structure with multiple stakeholders and a high degree of professional ethics and integrity.
  • Strong new business development experience, bringing businesses to life, and growing them from launch into the next phases.
  • Proven record of success as it relates to translating operational concepts into scalable implementation and working collaboratively and cross-functionally.
  • Ability to be organized, disciplined, and can manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong relationship orientation, and an ability to tackle tough challenges and deliver results.
  • Outstanding communication skills and are an expert at making complex subjects easily understood.
  • Ambitious standards and can hold project contributors accountable.
  • Experience working with product and technology teams.

The annual salary range for this position is $110,000.00-$220,000.00

Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Business, Human Resources, or related field and 5 years’ experience in compliance, ethics, legal, project management, or related area OR 7 years’ experience in compliance, ethics, legal, project management, or related area. 3 years’ supervisory experience. 4 years’ experience using intermediate functionality of Microsoft Office.
