A Day in Your Life at MKS:

The Technical Director of Quality plays a critical role in developing and driving the strategy for quality excellence and operational performance. This leadership position requires a strong ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams to achieve business objectives and foster a culture of continuous improvement. Leveraging deep expertise in quality assurance, process optimization, and complex assembly manufacturing, you will develop and implement strategic quality objectives to enhance product quality, reliability, compliance and efficiency. This is an onsite role based at our Wilmington Ma facility.

You Will Make an Impact By:

  • Providing leadership to the quality organization to help drive a proactive approach with improvements within design, manufacturing, and customers. Leading monthly management reviews for the leadership team to help drive continuous product improvement with the cross functional teams.

  • Analyzing customer returns and failure rate data in depth and trend Quality Metrics. Also, reviewing repair data for accuracy, determining root cause and CAPA (corrective and preventive actions) with a focus on systemic improvements. You will accomplish this by collaborating with Operations and Engineering, as needed, to determine root cause and in-process failures

  • Expanding and improving on existing processes and creating robust methods across multiple sites

  • Identifying and further developing KPI’s (key performance indicators) within the business to help drive towards Operational Excellence with a proactive approach to addressing issues before they reach out customers

  • Further enhancing the organization through the use and implementation of various tools such quality plans, process flows, FMEA (failure mode and effects analysis), DOE (design of experiments)

  • Driving and promoting a culture of quality within the organization

  • Owning the Quality Management System, managing the Internal Quality System Audit Program, and conducting Quality System Management Reviews

  • Developing and mentoring team members to support our focus on scalable growth, competitive success, breakthrough innovation and accountability.

Skills You Bring:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics, or applicable technical degree (MS and or MBA preferred)

  • 12+ years of total applicable experience, including quality engineering and related disciplines, or an equivalent combination of experience and advanced degree(s)

  • ​An understanding of advanced Electronic systems and a competency of the functionality/purpose of electronic components.

  • Effective and thorough knowledge of quality improvement tools, including:

    • Design quality tools, including D/PFMEA, DFX, Poke-yoke, New Product Introduction

    • Statistical decision-making methods including process capability analysis and DoE

    • Problem solving tools (8D, K-T).

    • Knowledgeable of ISO 9001-2015 and ISO 14001.

  • Strong analytical and technical abilities (a problem-solver).

  • Experience with data analytics (we use Power BI) and ideally, the use of AI to analyze Issues.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with customers and management and a change agent approach with strong functional team building abilities

Preferred:

  • Experience in the Semiconductor Industry is a plus

  • Experience with working with large OEM organizations, particularly in the semiconductor industry a strong plus

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

  • Self-management of activities such as sitting, standing, or typing for extended periods of time.

  • Regularly requires good manual dexterity and coordination.

  • Regularly requires manual dexterity and coordination of objects below, at and above shoulder level.

  • Must be able to exchange accurate information

  • Operates in a professional office and clean room laboratory/manufacturing environment.

  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery

  • Ability to observe documents and details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).

  • Dedication to safety to mitigate hazards, including handling mechanical and electrical hardware, high voltage, gas, water, and heat.

  • Noise level in the work environment is usually average without loud impact noise.

Compensation and Benefits:
Salary Pay Range: $168,300 to $280,500 per year. This range is a good faith estimate of the expected salary range for this position, based on a wide range of factors including qualifications, experience and training, operational and business needs and other considerations permitted by law. At MKS, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for the role.

Bonus: This position is eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, in an amount to be determined by MKS [or as applicable].
