Rogers Group is currently seeking a Director of Strategic Sourcing in the Nashville, TN area reporting directly to the Vice President of OSS. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated ability to develop and execute strategic sourcing strategies for key spend categories. 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute strategic sourcing strategies for key spend categories supporting aggregate, asphalt, construction, maintenance, and corporate operations.
  • Lead sourcing initiatives for mobile equipment, plant equipment, parts, wear materials, fuel, explosives, transportation, MRO, outside services, technology, and capital project support.
  • Analyze spend data, supplier performance, market trends, and operational requirements to identify savings, standardization, and efficiency opportunities.
  • Negotiate supplier agreements, service contracts, pricing programs, rebates, renewals, and long-term vendor partnerships.
  • Evaluate total cost of ownership, including price, uptime, reliability, service response, logistics, warranty, lifecycle cost, and operational impact.
  • Partner with operations, maintenance, engineering, safety, finance, accounting, AP, tax, IT, and field leadership to align sourcing decisions with business needs.
  • Establish supplier performance expectations, scorecards, service levels, and review processes to ensure accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Manage supplier qualification, compliance, insurance requirements, safety expectations, and ethical sourcing standards.
  • Assess and mitigate supply chain risks related to market volatility, availability, supplier reliability, logistics constraints, and critical materials.
  • Develop contingency plans and alternate supplier strategies to reduce operational disruption.
  • Support capital projects and major purchases through bid processes, vendor evaluations, contract support, and pricing analysis.
  • Leverage procurement systems, reporting tools, and sourcing processes to improve visibility, compliance, and decision-making.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop sourcing personnel while promoting accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Stay informed on market conditions, industry trends, supplier innovations, and procurement best practices relevant to the construction materials industry.

 

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Finance, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field; advanced degree or professional certification preferred.

  • 5–8+ years of experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, supply chain management, or vendor management, preferably in aggregates, mining, construction materials, heavy equipment, asphalt, construction, manufacturing, or another heavy industrial environment.

  • Strong business and operational understanding of heavy industrial environments, including the needs of geographically dispersed field operations.

  • Advanced negotiation, supplier relationship management, and contract-management skills.

  • Strong financial and analytical acumen, including the ability to interpret spend data, evaluate supplier performance, and identify cost-improvement opportunities.

  • Sound understanding of procurement processes, supplier qualification, compliance expectations, insurance requirements, safety standards, and ethical sourcing practices.

  • Ability to evaluate total cost of ownership and balance cost, quality, reliability, service, risk, and operational impact.

  • Proficiency with Excel, ERP systems, procurement platforms, reporting tools, and data-driven decision-making.

  • Strong communication and relationship-management skills with both internal stakeholders and external suppliers.

  • Leadership experience with the ability to influence cross-functional teams, mentor sourcing or procurement staff, and drive accountability.

  • Self-starter with strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize multiple initiatives in a fast-paced operating environment.

  • Willingness to travel to operating locations, supplier sites, and industry events as needed.
