Job Overview:

Director of Operations

Location: Beachwood, OH (Travel throughout Northeast Ohio)

Compensation: $110,000-$150,000/year.

About the Position

Kintara is partnering with a growing Northeast Ohio facilities management company providing integrated facility maintenance, commercial cleaning, preventive maintenance, grounds management, and construction-related services to healthcare, commercial, and nonprofit clients.

We are seeking a Director of Operations to oversee day-to-day operations, lead field teams, manage client relationships, and establish the processes and systems necessary to support continued growth.

This is a highly hands-on leadership position with significant autonomy and direct exposure to company ownership. As the organization continues to expand, this individual will take ownership of everything that happens after a contract is signed, ensuring projects and services are properly staffed, scheduled, delivered, and maintained within budget.

A major focus of this position will be developing standardized operating procedures, implementing systems, improving accountability, and creating a more scalable operational structure.

The ideal candidate brings a strong background in facilities management, building maintenance, commercial services, or construction operations, along with the ability to lead people, manage multiple locations, and build processes from the ground up.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations across multiple client locations, including facility maintenance, preventive maintenance, janitorial services, post-construction cleaning, grounds management, and seasonal services.
  • Develop and implement standardized operating procedures, checklists, inspection standards, onboarding processes, and reporting systems.
  • Manage scheduling, work orders, preventive maintenance programs, and field service coordination.
  • Implement and maintain CMMS, scheduling, and time-tracking systems to improve operational efficiency and accountability.
  • Recruit, hire, train, schedule, and manage field employees, technicians, cleaning crews, and site supervisors.
  • Establish performance expectations and ensure teams consistently meet quality, safety, and customer service standards.
  • Serve as the primary operational contact for clients, managing relationships, conducting site walkthroughs, and addressing service concerns.
  • Lead new customer and contract transitions, including staffing plans, equipment requirements, schedules, and service expectations.
  • Coordinate subcontractors and specialty vendors, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, fire and life safety, landscaping, and snow removal.
  • Oversee safety procedures, compliance documentation, employee training, and client-specific requirements.
  • Monitor labor hours, materials, expenses, and job profitability to ensure contracts meet financial expectations.
  • Support estimating, proposals, and contract reviews by evaluating labor requirements, production rates, and project costs.
  • Review timesheets, overtime, purchasing, and invoicing accuracy.
  • Manage emergency service coordination and serve as an escalation point for urgent operational issues.
  • Partner directly with company leadership to identify operational improvements, growth opportunities, and long-term staffing needs.
  • Build and develop additional supervisory leadership as the organization continues to scale.

Who You Are

  • 5+ years of experience in facilities management, building maintenance, commercial cleaning, construction operations, or a closely related industry.
  • At least 2 years of experience leading field employees, managing crews, or overseeing multiple locations.
  • Strong understanding of building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, life safety, and preventive maintenance.
  • Experience developing and implementing SOPs, operational processes, and standardized service procedures.
  • Comfortable managing hourly employees, scheduling, staffing, and after-hours service requirements.
  • Experience overseeing budgets, labor costs, job profitability, and operational performance.
  • Strong client-facing communication skills with the ability to manage relationships with facility directors, contractors, vendors, and executive leadership.
  • Experience with CMMS or work-order management software, scheduling platforms, and Microsoft 365.
  • Ability to work independently, make operational decisions, and manage multiple priorities without constant oversight.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to hold employees accountable while building a positive team environment.
  • Healthcare facilities or other regulated-environment experience is strongly preferred.
  • Experience managing subcontractors and specialty service vendors is desirable.
  • Familiarity with OSHA requirements, healthcare compliance, or Joint Commission standards is a plus.
  • IFMA FMP/CFM, OSHA 30, ISSA certifications, or relevant trade licensing is a plus.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel regularly to customer locations throughout Northeast Ohio.

What We Offer

  • Competitive base salary based on experience.
  • Performance-based bonus tied to operational results, profitability, and client retention.
  • Potential long-term equity participation or profit-sharing opportunities based on performance and company growth.
  • Company vehicle or mileage reimbursement.
  • Company phone and laptop.
  • Significant autonomy and ownership of day-to-day operations.
  • Opportunity to work directly with company leadership and help shape the organization's future.
  • Long-term career growth within an expanding Northeast Ohio organization.

Why Join

This is an opportunity to take on a true operational leadership role within a growing company where your decisions and contributions will have a direct impact on the business.

Rather than stepping into an established corporate structure, you'll have the opportunity to build systems, develop teams, improve processes, and help create the operational foundation necessary for continued growth.

For someone who enjoys taking ownership, leading people, and building a business rather than simply maintaining existing operations, this position offers significant autonomy, direct access to ownership, and the potential for long-term financial upside
