The role can be based in either Port Washington, New York or Cortland, New York. Cortland is in the Finger Lakes Region of NY, surrounded by mountains and lakes with a low cost of living. Position Objective:
Our new Director will lead the Materials and Product Characterization (MPC) team of the broader Metrology, Analysis and Applications group within the R&D department. This team currently consists of metrologists, computational fluid dynamists, engineering programmers / modelers / data analysts.
Your Role:
Lead the global MPC team in conducting research to push the state of the art in fluid flow, filtration, and metrology and to develop and execute standard test methods used for routine testing of filters and membranes developed for multiple industries inclusive of microelectronics, food/beverage, energy transition and aerospace
Develop and maintain partnerships with customers or other external partners to enable strategic product demonstration (pilot) testing of "first to market" products.
Design and execute product validation and FMEA test plans
Serve as SMEs in filtration strategic markets, technologies, and applications.
You will act as a domain specialist in resolving internal and external customer problems
Participates in technical brainstorming sessions, as related to NPD projects, and contributes by utilizing fundamental understanding of physics.
Interacts with global cross-functional members from R&D, Engineering, Technology Transfer, Scientific and Laboratory Services, Marketing and Manufacturing and find opportunities to bring the capabilities of MPC to optimize Pall products and processes.
Innovates to develop new technologies for filtration and separation applications and measurement.
Communicates clearly with team members, management, customers, suppliers, and other key stakeholders.
Provide feedback and coaching to direct reports on all aspects of job performance, development, and succession planning.
Fosters and exemplifies a culture of integrity, honesty, and inclusion within MPC and throughout the Pall community.
Ability to travel 10% travel (both nationally and internationally).
Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Chemistry, Aeronautical, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering with a focus in materials analysis or analytical chemistry with at least 8 years of post-degree experience.
Prefer at least 5 years of people leadership experience in a scientific, engineering or product development matrixed organization.
Problem solving ability and excellent oral/written communication skills are required.
Prefer knowledge of Filter Design, Fluid dynamics, and Metrology.
Fluency with Design of Experiment (DOE) methods and statistical analysis
Working experience and knowledge with ANSYS (or like simulation) software tools.
US Citizenship or Resident Alien status required to support government programs and projects.
Must have the ability to travel 10%
The salary range for this role is $160,000.00 - $185,000.00. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.
This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
