This role is part of Alcon's Manufacturing function, a team that designs, produces and delivers innovative eyecare products to more than 140 countries through operational excellence and efficiency. You will be a leader of large injection molding operation including the technical project and maintenance responsibilities as well as daily operations.
The Director of Manufacturing Operations Management - Injection Molding (Management Path) is primarily responsible for leading and coordinating teams and processes across multiple manufacturing areas within a single plant to ensure efficient production operations and resource management. You will be expected to build effective and meaningful relationships to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence. Specific responsibilities include:
- Lead and coordinate teams and processes across multiple manufacturing areas, including Production Engineering, Manufacturing Process Development, Mold, Tool & Die/Model Making, Production Operations, Production Planning/Control, and Manufacturing Materials Supply
- Ensure alignment with business objectives and drive operational excellence by maintaining a well-trained, optimized labor workforce
- Oversee efficient production operations and implement continuous improvement initiatives
- Foster a culture of excellence by leading performance management, driving talent development, ensuring positive associate relations, enhancing associate engagement, recognizing achievements, and driving a strong safety culture
- Ensure all associates follow Good Practice (GxP) regulations by closely following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), maintaining accurate and complete documentation, ensuring rigorous quality control, and completing all required training
- Lead planning, collaboration across functions, problem-solving, and communication effectiveness to elevate operational efficiency and bolster the organization's achievements
- Ensures the highest quality product is manufactured at the lowest possible cost and stays in sync with Alcon and worldwide regulatory requirements.
- Maintains and improves quality systems and regulatory compliance related to product, safety, and environmental affairs.
- Perform and conduct business in compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and company policies, and with high ethical standards.
- Partners with R&D, MS&T, etc. to introduce new products, process improvements, and system enhancements as required.
- Develops a strong partnership with Site Quality Leader to build and maintain a quality attitude.
- Leads the annual financial operating budget for the site in alignment with Alcon policies and regulatory requirements.
- Establishes a culture passionate about continuously advancing efficiency, processes, cost, and value.
- Implements Lean Manufacturing initiatives.
- Fosters and develops a safety culture, injury-free performance and adherence to safety and compliance policy/procedures to provide a safer environment for all employees.
- Engages with Corporate, regional, and/or global platform teams to use connections.
- Develops a talent mind-set culture within the organization to meet current and future business needs and succession for key leadership roles.
- Develops and fosters a diverse and inclusive culture.
- Leads teams, set goals, supervise progress and remain current on all key employee performance appraisals and talent management processes/systems.
- Provides employees with the authority, accountability, training, information and resources to achieve their full potential and effectively drive the company’s performance.
- Ensures an open culture in which all associates feel they are valued and appreciated.
- Ensure Capacity Plans are formulated and completed
- Understand track and improve financial drivers
- Ensure service metrics are met while maintaining and improving safety and quality imperatives.
- Ensure quality and compliance processes are continuously maintained and improved.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO ALCON:
- Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school +18 yrs; Assoc.+14 yrs; M.S.+7 yrs; PhD+6 yrs)
- The ability to fluently read, write, understand and communicate in English
- 10 Years of Relevant Experience
- 6 Years of Demonstrated Leadership
