Newmar Corporation based in Nappanee, IN is seeking a Director of Engineering to join our team. The Director of Engineering leads functional teams responsible for the design, development, and integration of interior, exterior, and electrical systems. This role ensures technical excellence and alignment with customer expectations and industry trends, driving innovation and product quality from concept to production.

Day to Day of the Role:
- Leads the discovery, development, and evaluation of new product ideas, enhancements, and converts findings into useable and marketable products.
- Collaborates and consults with other functions of the business and enterprise engineering teams in developing detailed plans for new designs and products.
- Consults and collaborates with other functional business leaders to create long-range operating and manufacturing goals specific to the needs of the business
- Establishes an organizational structure with clear roles and responsibilities which focuses the engineering team on their priorities.
- Communicates the engineering vision, objectives, strategies and priorities to the engineering team and key business unit leaders
- Hires, coaches, and develops engineering talent to cultivate a high-performing team focused on delivering the objectives of the business
- Drives a strong culture of delivering on-time, on-budget projects that meet quality standards
- Reviews and anticipates the future department’s technology needs
- Champion adoption of emerging technologies such as lightweight materials, smart interiors, EV architectures, and connected vehicle systems.
- Drive continuous improvement through design for manufacturability (DFM), design for serviceability (DFS), and cost optimization.
- Other responsibilities may be assigned based on business needs
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
- Master’s degree in engineering or MBA preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in vehicle engineering, with 5+ years in a leadership role.
- Deep understanding of vehicle systems and lifecycle development in automotive, truck, or RV industries
- Experience with CAD/CAE tools, PLM systems NX/Team Center Preferred
- Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements and homologation processes.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience with supplier management and global engineering collaboration.
