PURPOSE/SUMMARY:
Director of Engineering provides technical expertise, analysis and direction for the development and implementation of processes required for the successful / cost effective manufacture of technical products that meet all customer requirements (Quality and Delivery). A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Managing multi-discipline engineering team including: Manufacturing Engineering, NC Programming, Tool Design, and Special Processes in a fabrication and machining environment
Re-engineering / optimizing existing manufacturing processes to drive Quality & Cycle time improvements
Leading Continuous improvement activities to drive lean product flow
Driving New Product Introduction programs and leading direct technical interface with multiple customers (GE, P&W, Rolls Royce, etc.)
Technology Development to support evolving customer needs and improve company market position as fabrication, laser & machining leader
Additional duties and responsibilities may be assigned based on business need.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: The Director of Engineering will have direct supervisory responsibilities and executive leadership responsibility for all engineering functions: Mfg Eng, NC Programing, Tool Design
Supervisory Responsibilities:
May lead and manage the members of the Operations organization.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Essential Qualifications:
Min. 10-15 years engineering experience preferably within the aerospace industry
Min. 3-4 years management/leadership background
Project Management background
Lean and Six Sigma background
Customer facing experience
Familiarity with range of fabrication and machining processes
Familiarity with Unigraphics software (CAM/CAD)
Self-starter, resourceful, flexible, responsive, detail oriented and possess a good work ethic
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Ability to travel (infrequent: 10-15%)
US citizenship or Permanent Residency
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Bachelors Degree in Engineering or a related technical field
Minimum 10 years experience in related industry with minimum 3 years in a supervisory role.
Must have proficient computer skills in various design programs and Microsoft Office Suite
Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, 6 sigma, complex technical product knowledge
Demonstrated leadership experience.
SPECIAL SKILLS and/or KEY COMPETANCIES:
Demonstrated ability to provide leadership and foster teamwork while solving technical challenges
Excellent problem solving, situation assessment and conflict resolution are required.
Must have sound judgment to deal with dynamic situations, decide upon a course of action and implement swift resolution for closure.
Ability to oversee several simultaneous projects with the proper delegating skills and the precise amount of involvement without interference, allowing the specifically designated personnel to perform their tasks.
Exceptional motivation, leadership, and team building skills required.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to document complex technical assessments for effective communication across the organization, customers and suppliers
Ability to motivate and facilitate effective change
