Position Summary:We are seeking experiencedDiesel Mechanicsto maintain, repair, and troubleshootheavy mining and industrial equipment— including haul trucks, loaders, conveyors, bulldozers, and drills. You’ll work both independently and in a team setting to ensure the reliability and peak performance of equipment supporting salt extraction and large-scale material handling operations.

This is a hands-on opportunity for mechanics who thrive in a rugged, fast-paced environment and enjoy working with advanced mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, repair, and maintain heavy equipment such as cranes, loaders, haul trucks, conveyors, and bulldozers
  • Inspect, dismantle, and reassemble equipment using hoists, cranes, and hand tools
  • Perform welding and fabrication repairs on broken or worn structural parts
  • Conduct preventive maintenance — check and fill fluid levels, service lubrication points, inspect hydraulic lines and pumps
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems efficiently
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and service manuals
  • Operate equipment for testing and post-repair verification
  • Maintain daily work logs, service reports, and documentation accurately
  • Follow all safety procedures and maintain housekeeping standards in work areas
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding repairs, hazards, or process changes

Qualifications & Skills

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 2–4 years’ experienceas a heavy equipment or diesel mechanic (industrial or mining environment preferred)
  • Must hold aMichigan Mechanic Certification(Diesel, Transmission, Hydraulic, or Electrical Systems)
  • Experience withCAT SIS Programpreferred
  • Proficient in troubleshooting engines, transmissions, and sub-assemblies
  • Ability to diagnose malfunctions, isolate causes, and make repairs to OEM standards
  • Familiar with cranes, loaders, conveyors, bulldozers, and air compressors
  • Strong computer skills, includingMicrosoft Officeand basic diagnostic software
  • Dependable, safety-minded, and able to work in a physically demanding environment
  • Capable of lifting 50+ lbs and working extended shifts underground or outdoors year-round
