Diesel Mechanics perform varied tasks that may involve physical labor for repair to heavy equipment, over the road tractors, trailers and automobiles. They may operate a variety of equipment including hand and power tools. The mechanic may be required to work at a construction job site, along highways or in a garage setting. This is a 2nd shift position.
DIesel Mechanic Qualifications & Skills:
Diesel Mechanics must have good manual dexterity, hand-eye coordination, and balance. They must also be able to read and understand warning signs and labels on a construction site, be able to read and interpret repair manuals, drawings and written instructions or specifications. They should be capable of working as a member of a team and have basic problem-solving and math skills. They must possess the knowledge and ability to operate and repair equipment in a safe and efficient manner. Must be able to operate and utilize computer software to diagnose problems and apply findings to repair equipment. Should be familiar with Cat and Cummins power units, air systems and ABS brake controls.
