Job Overview:

Required Skills:

• Must be 18 years or older

• 1–3 years of heavy equipment mechanical experience

• Strong working knowledge of:

o Hydraulics

o Diesel and gas engines

o Electrical Wiring

• Ability to independently diagnose and repair mechanical failures

• Ability to lift to 50 lbs. frequently

• Must supply basic tools necessary for the position

• Strong safety mindset and reliable attendance

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience as a heavy equipment mechanic (sawmill or forestry equipment

preferred)

• Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems

• Ability to troubleshoot and repair equipment independently

• Welding and fabrication experience is a plus

• Valid driver’s license (CDL is a bonus)

• Ability to work in outdoor and industrial environments

Description of position and duties/responsibilities:

Under the supervision of the Shop Supervisor, the equipment mechanic performs:

DUTIES INCLUDE:

• Install, maintain, and repair sawmill machinery and production equipment

• Troubleshoot mechanical breakdowns quickly and safely

• Perform preventative maintenance to minimize downtime

• Inspect equipment for safety and operational efficiency

• Maintain accurate service records and usage of parts

• Work closely with operations to keep equipment running efficiently

• Follow all safety procedures and lockout/tagout practices

PHYSICAL WORK DEMANDS:

The physical demands and work environment are representative of a typical industrial

plant environment. The equipment mechanic is frequently exposed to moving mechanical

parts. Noise levels can be moderate to high. Frequently lift and move heavy machinery

parts, tools, and materials up to 50 pounds. Exposure to outside temperatures, weather

conditions, wood waste/dust, oil, and lubricants. The equipment mechanic is often

required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop,

kneel, crouch, and the ability to work in tight spaces, confined areas, and awkward

positions to access and repair machinery, requiring flexibility and a tolerance for

uncomfortable work environments. Requires close vision, distance vision, and depth

perception.

Shift Schedule: Swing Mon – Thursday 1:30 PM – 12:00 AM, Shift and hours can be

discussed
